The Bike Shop / Re: Odyssey clutch v2 opinions
« on: May 07, 2021, 10:09:50 PM »
So I have a v2 Clutch and I have ridden it maybe 10 times and mostly just tooling around when I ride .After maybe a quarter mile of total distance it developed side to side play in the hub .They sent out a replacement driver but still have the same issue .Its an awesome hub but I wish it had some adjustment possibilities .
Weird, it took well over a year of hard riding for the v1 to develop that and I still don't have any in the V2 after close to 2 years. If you have a spare wheel to ride you may wanna send that in to them, or hit up a local bike shop that carries Odyssey stuff for warranty. Maybe there was a machining mistake made at the factory? Mine's holding up great and I've had to rebuild freecoasters like 50 times before getting one, and I'm very rough on my bike. And also go on road bike rides with it...

Finally made them give me the raise I deserved at work, otherwise I was going to be looking for a different job. Which I really didn't want to have to resort to as I have full access to a woodshop and the CNC router, and get to make a lot of cool shit. Now I'll actually be able to stop living paycheck to paycheck and start putting money in the bank.

Now to figure out how the hell I'm going to build credit cause I need a cabin in the woods with a big garage. Sick of living in the city.

Still single with no kids - it's weird watching all of my friends getting married, having kids, and buying houses. Definitely not planning on having any kids myself but now I'm at the age where the only dating options seem to be single mothers lmao

prolly my odsy antigram front hub. before that it was a 4 year old pair of deco forks but the steer tube bent on them this past month
My Marmoset is still fine after over 10 years, probably due for its second bearing replacement. I only replaced it because A. the second newest G-Sport hub had way better aluminum guards available with steel inserts and B. it came in clear anodized polished to match my Clutch hub.

No credit, no future, no savings, fucked up back but I have 3 BMX bikes and still ride whenever I can. Broke as shit but I've been living 100% on my own after my roommate moved out last fall and all my bills are paid so I can't complain too much. 30 is approaching too quick

When's the best time to plant a tree?  20 years ago.  When's the second best time?  Today.
You got this shit homie.
Kinda hard to plant a tree when the soil is shit and there's no rain. Maybe I should try a cactus instead...

@sokoloka I absolutely love that truck and can't believe I forgot about the creamsicle 2 tone. I really want a 71-73 in either the green/light green or brown/tan 2 tone. My grandfather had one in the green/green and my dad had the 80s Clubwagon in the brown/tan for half of my childhood. I gotta have the round headlights and one of those 2 schemes.

Did you say you live in an apartment? How the hell so you manage so many vehicles?
They're in 4 different parts of the state. I have 2 driveway spots + a garage I pay extra for at my apartment. I do side work at my buddy's shop to pay for a bay inside there. Then the El Camino spends half the year in a storage unit up north (I split it with my mom and I put in a bunch of shelving so she can stash her shit while I park the truck or whatever vehicle), and the Impala is in my buddy's back yard. Sometimes I stash shit at my work. It's a lot to keep up with hahaha

I'm an absolute fucking disaster when it comes to cars

My late father's 86 El Camino, it's a rust bucket but I drove it halfway across the country last year. Picked up a non-rotted frame that I'm modifying so I can airbag it and lay it out, then replacing floors and quarters

80 Ford Pinto I bought in 2011 when I graduated HS and have since turbo 2.3 swapped but still need to finish up

85 Corolla SR5 my best friend passed to me from Houston when he blew a 2nd motor, getting it ready for a BEAMS 20v swap to be my new drift car

99 Suburban K2500 454 4WD tow rig

64 Impala SS with no motor or floor

The daily driver/bike trip (I have tons of bike racks) 93 Corolla Wagon that has now made it about 100k miles since I found it for an ex-gf on Craigslist like 7 years ago

I traded my 88 Volvo 740 drift car I ran for 2 full years of drift events and daily drove for a while for the Suburban

Had an ex who left like 5 years ago unblock me and want to catch up recently which made me realize I've done nothing with my life since then besides acquire more cars and not finish the project I just barely got running when she left lmao.

Same job and apartment for over 5 years now, really sick of a lot of the bullshit around the job even though I get to make some cool shit. 6 cars - two of which are on the road fully legally and reliably despite being from the 90s in the rust belt, 4 project cars - two of which run and drive yet need more work and two of which don't even have motors. 3 of these cars I plan to keep for the rest of my life.

No credit, no future, no savings, fucked up back but I have 3 BMX bikes and still ride whenever I can. Broke as shit but I've been living 100% on my own after my roommate moved out last fall and all my bills are paid so I can't complain too much. 30 is approaching too quick

« on: May 11, 2020, 09:10:29 PM »
Yeah the Clutch ain't the G-Coaster but man is it miles better than any coaster I've ever run before. Had the v1 for a year and a half and my only issue was it developing some side to side play. Got a v2 and the aluminum guard (I also destroyed the plastic one pretty quick, supposedly they updated the material) and haven't had a single issue. It's weird being able to put a coaster on and just run it for a year and a half, I was used to having to rebuild the old school ones every month. Driver bearings had a max 5 week lifespan, resistance mechanisms wore out and slipped, plus they had weak axles. I also sheared the driver threads in half on my Poverty coaster hahaha. Now I've got a 14mm female axle in a hub I never need to touch. Oh yeah and with the stronger female axle I haven't had my wheel move in the dropouts like I used to with the old male axle hubs.

Looking for one at least long enough to run a fist worth of seat post. You know that old tapered post that couldn't be run slammed.

1988 Volvo 740 n/a 2.3

1986 El Camino with a 305 my dad left me when he passed away a couple years ago. I just drove it from New Hampshire to Texas and back a couple months ago...at 14mpg. The one in the back doing a burnout, I got a trophy for that haha

I've now had my 1980 Ford Pinto for 8 years and it's turbo 2.3 EFI swapped.

Then of course the 93 Corolla Death Wagon which can carry 5 people and 5 bikes...

and even those broke all the time and required a decent amount of work to extract the outside races.
Headset star nut with the prongs bent a bit. You can also order a slightly smaller one for office furniture legs, since I used the headset one for 6902s. Hammer it in, flip the driver over, hammer the bearing race out, then flip that over in a vice and hammer the star nut out to reuse.
