Do the graphite Ruben pedals use the same hardware (eg spindles and bearings) as the alloy ones?

No, the graphite pedals are loose ball bearing while the alloy Rubens are sealed bearing. They are totally different.

My MDS from a few years ago came with both adapters, maybe mailorder chucked one in or odyssey stopped sending both, not sure.

i really want to rebuild my nankai, still needs new axle and i have to find my slack-washer again...

edit:
seems like the newer bamboo (2?) need a 23mm cone wrench
