Cant beat a 226, sorry about the scar.

226 is quite hard to beat.  Why no love for the scar?  too much plastic?

As for the Kimber... I love that gun, but unfortunately, was the only gun in the collection to have major issues right out of the box.

I've heard that about some recent Kimbers. I guess QC was off for a bit at the factory. I assume they made it right and it runs well now?

(My previous comment was also a slight jab at the SCAR and 870's as well. Not a fan of either of those )

My kimber had 2 major issues that I had to fix on my own after logging 2 tickets with their customer service dept.  First major issue was the slide stop not being polished down enough.  this caused the first rounds in the mag to not to go into battery because they were bumping off and to the right of the barrel ramp.  that also caused the follower on the shitty mags that the gun came with to dig very hard into the trigger frame.

2nd issue was that the extractor wasnt properly adjusted from the factory.  every round fired equaled a searing hot casing being ejected into my face.

First off with Kimber...I want a Raptor pro stainless more than any non custom 1911 out there.  I just cannot dig the 2 year warranty.  They have a lot of QC issues out of the box but are good with fixing them.  Its just hard to sell a guy a kimber when the springfields in the next case have a better warranty.

I love the idea of the scar, and if I had an extra 3k I would have a scar heavy FDE, the recoil (less) system on there is amazing, even in full auto it feels like a .22.

As a toy/plinker its an awesome gun.

I just can't get on board with a battle rifle that is so proprietary.

I love my Kimber and wouldnt hesitate one second to recommend one to anybody that asked.  Ive had a couple of buddies that got guns from their custom shop.  None had any issues and shoot like a dream.  perhaps I got a monday/friday gun.  haha.

I agreee with your assessment of the SCAR.  you touched on my main selling point of the entire weapon system, in that it is definitely one of the softest shooting battle rifles out there.

but there isnt much aftermarket support or interchangeability in the platform.  I mean, I would have picked up a 17s if FN ever released the caliber change kits they touted when the gun was first announced.  It also pisses me off that FN decided to go with a proprietary mag design when it came to the 17s.  that was that was my breaking point.

They fucked up the FNAR/SXAR with proprietary $70 magazines, and they did the same thing with the Scar heavy.  Make it take FAL mags or P mags and it would be great.

I thought the 808 was bad at 15 for a handgun. Same day with long gun.

Heading to the desert on the 26th, figure its time I mount a light on the AR. Very hesitant to buy Surefire since I can't justify the cost for what it is (quality of machine work mainly, lacking) but they are on sale right now at my LGS. Picked up the M600C and SR07 switch. Ordered a Gear Sector low profile offset mount for it as well.

I come back to BG, start reading a thread about you interested in a gun, realize there's 561523 pages and you've seemed to acquire quite an arsenal.. guess I missed a bunch
