I absolutely HATE my VTAC sling. It doesn't provide a very comfortable firing position for me. Hopefully you have better luck. Another downside is, when it's slung over your back, the barrel is pointing upwards.

Which one did you get?  Mine is the padded MK2 and everything I've read about it is pretty favorable.  If I end up not liking it I will probably go for a Blue Force Gear.

Couch, I'm fairly certain the Vickers sling is made by Blue Force Gear and I have yet to hear anything negative about them.

Non-padded. Might be the original, not completely sure. But, the adjustment on it isn't that great, the slide on it is kind of junk and like I mentioned before, it just isn't a good firing position with the sling cinched down.

Have any of you guys used your ar15 variants to hunt with? According to the internet it's only ethical to hunt with .308 since it's pretty much dead as long as you hit the body at least. Also pistols with you while hunting?

.223/5.56NATO will humanely take down deer and coyotes, but not much else IMO.

For deer I'd bring my .308.  I'd shoot the .223 only if I could guarantee a good head shot or it was at close range.
