Dropping my car off for a vinyl wrap this weekend, pretty excited to see it finished.

Is it ever worth it converting a truck to 4x4 vs just getting a different vehicle?  I got an '02 Xterra RWD, moving to Denver and need/want 4x4. I've got only 9l on it and just did the timing belt/water pump/all other belts. I love the truck so is it worthwhile?

Usually, no. Unless you have access to dirt cheap parts, lots of skilled labor, time, and a good space to do the work.

Only sometimes. For your situation probably not. Unless you want to somehow throw a divorced t-case and a small solid axle up front then it would be kind of cool. Or try to go about converting it using stock parts which would most likely cost you more than if you sold the rwd and got into a 4x4..

A ghetto solid axle swap is pretty much the worst way to go about it though.

The only worthwhile way on an Xterra would be to find a donor 4x4 rig that's a similar year and swap everything over.

Decided im going to try and flip this when im done with it. I still need a cleaner bottom portion of the back seat, a drivers seat, and sort out the wiring due to cut wires in the harness. Last thing will be paint. I want to get air suspension for my ls400 after it gets fixed. So this will fund that, or i will just sell it and buy a Q45, who knows.

Yeah, after talking to a couple shops, the only reasonable way would be finding a donor and 4x4 xterrras aren't very common here. Taking an 06 4Runner to my mechanic tomorrow for an inspection.  If it checks out I'm getting it.

Hank, if that 4Runner checks out clean, you won't be disappointed. A friend of mine bought one as a winter beater, and ended up liking it so much he dumped some money into it to get it into tip top shape and now daily drives it

I wanted one when I bought the Xterra 4 years ago but I got it for such a good price with only 58k on the odo, I couldn't pass it up.  I do think I'm going to test drive an FJ just to see if I like it significantly more.  I don't think I'll be doing that much off-roading but they have the rear diff lock and the 4runner doesn't.

If you do this i recommend a 205 transfer case. Also build it so that the front and rear shafts are the same length. If you break the rear shaft you can always use the front to get you home

I'm fairly certain Bitzer has an S4 now.

I'm thinking about selling my GTI sometime soon. Tired of paying for it.
I might try and get a shitty e30.
