Guys, I want to build a cross bike. What Frameset should I get? Mostly for commuting but it must be race capable, disc, prefer BB30 but it doesn't matter, well under $1k.

Specialized Crux is always a solid choice. Not particularly 'boutique' but I'd imagine they're popular for a reason.

prefer BB30

Really? You're literally the first person I've ever heard say that.

I heard a Cannondale rep say it once as well.

I have a Red BB30 crank sitting around that I would prefer to use over my GXP Rival which is also sitting around. Parts bin getting full.

I'll probably get a Crux because my team discount gets me 20% off Specy junk. Just wanted to see what else was out there.

I hate bb30 with a passion. We pretty much take all bb30s apart and grease them if a bike comes in for service. If we don't, it'll start creaking within a week and we get blamed.

I got some pikes for my chameleon, feel like they're in an entirely different league than my old revelations and look massive to my 32mm adjusted eyes.

also generally looking a bit shabby, thinking about getting it resprayed matt black and pink frame/wheel stickers, danny mac style?: http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb12070345/p4pb12070345.jpg

It's looking pretty busy, would probably look a lot better if you destickered the frame, maybe rims, got rid of the shifter windows, maybe 1x10 it with a wide range cassette, trim the steerer etc

Steerers already trimmed, we have some pretty steep hills around here (+ fat and weak), so the front mech stays too.

I'd go fully destickered on any other bike, but the frame cost me a bloody fortune, so i dont want anyone to be in any doubt about that, ill try with the rims, etc though.

Got this recently. Genesis Croix De Fer.

Great fun to ride, seems to truck over anything.
