I would just go for a downhill hub and lace it to a bmx rim. Not sure if you can find a 48h if you need that though.

The Bike Shop / Re: What shoes are you riding in?
« on: October 17, 2016, 05:02:06 AM »
Been riding Vans OTW full calf leather shoes for 3 years now. I used to tear the fabric or plastic on the top part of all my other shoes fairly quickly, had to get new shoes every 3 months. The OTW have lasted me over a year each and they are still going, but very worn.

They stopped making them last year so have to rely on the internet to find old stock :/.

As a last resort you could try and switch your crank arms over and ride the pedals backwards (switch over the pedal bodies too) for a while, might loosen up after a few sessions.

It is here. Galleries are popping up on some sites, for example ride bmx. Discuss!

I saw the new United Rooftop sig. frame. Not sure if this is a joke or not.

What? Two spline types for the same size axle? That is just silly

Well you also have larger area which can be in contact with the surface you are riding on. Helps when carving or riding rails I guess.

And as Gary ride everything this should fit the purpose well.

That probably has more to do with Gary Young being a badass than the frame geometry.

Yes, obviously. I just mean that he would ride a bike that fits his style of riding.

Wow, that is basically a full custom-built style bike in the shape of a complete. Good pick!

I second getting a complete. Good quality for your money and you get a brand new looking bike.
Could also go for parts if you like to work on your bike, but it will cost you more and have less of a dramatic effect I guess.

Sounds like you will be doing similar style riding to what I do. Most bikes today are designed for street, as that is what most people ride.
Can get a really light and responsive bike that hold up to your style if you chose park-ish parts.

I ride a gyro (Impurity) with dragonfly-style upper cable and dual lower. My friend rides the 2-1 kind and I prefer his aestethically. Mine is just all over the place while his is more tidy and sits flush to the bike. Prefer mine when working on the bike though, especially since I hate cable hangers.

For me the dual upper cable is more worth it than dual lower.

Randomly met up with 10 guys on a road trip and rode around and drank beer, good times.

The Bike Shop / Re: Odyssey Clutch wobble
« on: June 22, 2016, 01:30:13 AM »
Really wanted a clutch but they sold out too fast. Friends that got them had issues with them so decided against it and got the Salt, very good hub. Ran gsport marmoset and ratchet before. Both hubs ran super smooth and were super strong, but the ratchet drivers were aweful. Ran four of them over the years. Kept breaking and they would come loose. Had to mod them to work

The Lounge / Re: Question about weddings
« on: June 02, 2016, 03:06:51 AM »
If your muslim friend is arab you might need to make sure that your car horn is working. There are tons of arab immigrants in my home town and they drive around the city honking for about 2-3 hours each wedding. Increadibly annoying.
