That AK isn't mine. It belongs to a private contractor who took it of a guy in Iraq who emptied two magazines at him and didn't live to talk about it.

Mmmm... illegal rifle right there.  I would stay far, far away from that.

Thanks Birdmane. I appreciate the concern. I'm really not worried about it though.

You're allowed to have one up there, just not use it, right?

Not anymore! State Congress and Senate actually did something for once, and re-wrote the law. Unrestricted suppressor use is now legal in WA.

Its not a VFG. AFG's are good to go on pistol builds. I'd only need to fill out the NFA Form 4 if I was building an SBR or putting on a Vertical Forward Grip.

Quote from: Birdmane;3455237
Be careful with that.

There's an ATF letter somewhere that states that AFG's are good to go on a pistol.

And Ken: that'd be a perfect suppressor upper if you were up here in a free state.

took a look at daniels defense and those are awesome. out of my price range though. i'm looking for something in the neighborhood of $700 or so. I can get bushmasters and a few others here for that price. i do know i want a carbine though.

Bushmasters are fine rifles, the ones I've had were good to me.

Clueless about guns... Question about guns. Is it cool to carry a weapon in public thats cocked or whatever? Even if the safetys on?

Open carry (someone else can see it) is legal in most states, but people freak out in urban areas so it's not recommended.  Check your local laws.

Concealed carry (nobody can see it) is legal in almost all states with a permit, and some states without a permit.  Again, check your local laws.

Like Bird said, carry condition isn't a legal matter but a safety matter.  All guns are designed to be carried with a round chambered, but the safeties/cocked or not depend on the individual gun.

I'm probably a weenie for posting this but I bought this tonight, it's loads of fun. Crosman, Semi-auto / 4.5mm / 480fps / 12g Co2 / 20 rounds.

Just be careful with a super light spring. The slide is going to slam into the frame harder. Recoil buffer will help but they give reliability issues on some 1911's.

I was thinking about that too...  possibly handload some lighter loads?  They may not be 100% reliable but for the intended purpose they should work.

also forgot to mention, he gave the gun back for a cleaning and for me to put a lighter spring in it so he can fire it.  It is in pristine condition.  He just bought one of those smith and wesson bodygaurd .380's and he can barely pull the slide back on it.  I am going to lube the 1911 up and throw a super soft spring in it and take him to the range.  He is almost 88 years old ripping! haha

Hell yeah, if he wants to fire it then get that thing running!

Maybe even throw a soft recoil buffer in there for him.

check out what i just got from my grandfather for a cleaning and lube job.  It was my great grand fathers in world war one.  He had it on his side down in mexico leading men in the chase of poncho villa and also on his side through a stent in england and a short one across europe. Once home he had to buy his weapon from the military for $15.  After WW1 .........

Mother of god.

Amazing gun with an amazing story. I'd almost be afraid to put rounds through it, and  instead just stare at it. Maybe even frame it in a locked glass case (possibly with the firing pin removed for safety).

Never owned a Kimber but my good friend has had a few that I've fired.  They are great pistols, well built with great finishes.  You definitely pay for it though, but it's not unreasonable for the quality of pistol you get.

ive seen people do cqb with a 25lb 240b

Maybe in the process of moving from one position to another a 240 gunner went through a building... but no element whose LT has his head on straight would send their gunner into a building to clear rooms.  No freakin way.

Yeah... Not quite sure what you're on about here...

Why do you put a light on the end of a rifle?  To illuminate a target up close.

Fighting in close quarters is called "Close Quarters Battle" aka "CQB".

Those rifles are long and heavy, not at all suited to CQB.

That was my point...
