Sell and Swap / Re: BEWARE MY BLUE BROTHER!!

This whole thing is pretty weak for all sides involved. The only thing here that I actually perceive as being an issue is the promising a bike for the raffle only to disappear when it comes time to put up. Everything else comes across as petty.

The Bike Shop / Re: acid-etching a screenprinted sprocket?

No, I had that one made by some dude in Puerto Rico. I am assuming he acid etched it, but he must have a much more official method.

Oh, and muriatic acid is super common at home improvement stores. I think it's used for cleaning concrete or something. I got mine at Ace Hardware.

I've used oven cleaner to strip ano off of tons of parts, and I want to say that the screenprinted logos always remain.

I've been using this method to make headtube badges for a few months now:

I always felt like the Moose frame was the one thing Guerra got right. It's a shame that it got pulled down under the weight of the Guerra/Ezra/Eastern collapse.

Didn't Allan Cooke or someone do the go-kart flip after Colin's death as a memorial to him? I might be making that up.

I like seeing a Stranger frame that isn't decked out in Primo parts. Good look.

Sell and Swap / Pegs, guards, and tires
« on: March 05, 2015, 08:28:44 PM »
I bought a wheelset locally and it came with a bunch of grind shit that I don't need. I'll give discounts if you purchase multiple items.

Hub Guards:

1 Profile Aegis Rear Hub Guard - $15 shipped
2 Profile Aegis Front Hub Gaurds - $15 shipped each
I'll throw the allow Primo DSG guard in with whoever wants it/claims it first

Pegs:

4 Shadow Lilttle One pegs with 4 Slicker Sleeves
These have been grinded but all have plenty of life left. I'd say 50-60% life left in the plastic sleeves.
$20 shipped for two, $35 shipped for all four

Tires:

2 Tanwall Stolen Joint tires (2.20 size). I'd say 85% life left. Very good shape overall.
$25 shipped for both

What would a grindside mold look like? Have you thought about having Shapeways or something similar print it for you?

The Bike Shop / Re: Pre-Order your Barcodes
« on: February 25, 2015, 08:23:15 AM »
whats the beef with s&ms barcodes?

S&M's frame QC has been spotty these days so problem frames are making it into the wild. I have talked to many people who have had an S&M (or S&M built frame) who had problems and will never own another.

This is true in my experience as well. I have two friends who have had welded mounts snap off of their S&M-made frames.

I don't know why people take such a moral stand against lifetime warranties. If companies wanted you to buy a new frame every 3 years then they would limit the warranty to three years.

Contact Full Factory. Get a new frame.

I've said it before.... by far the worst sales gimmick to ever happen to BMX. Don't you see any value in reinvesting into the company? Frames are one of the hardest things for shops to sell, why not present the opportunity instead of just taking money away from the manufacture? I can understand if it's a year or something but 3 years?

Let's look at it this way: I subscribe to Netflix for Unlimited movies for $8/month or whatever it is. Should I feel an obligation to purchase a second Netflix subscription once I watch 500 movies? Absolutely not. Part of the reason that I subscribe is because of the unlimited nature of it, that is a desirable feature to me.

I will never feel guilty about holding a company to its word. If part of the reason that I purchased a frame was because of a lifetime warranty, I have no qualms about making good on that warranty if necessary.

The Bike Shop / Re: odyssey quik slic cable
« on: February 23, 2015, 08:59:44 AM »
Okay, for anyone who actually cares I ended up buying the Kink cable to see what it's about.

My thoughts:

Cons

1) The brake housing is too long. This is an issue since it's a one-piece cable and cannot be easily shortened. I'd say they could stand to lose 3-4 inches at least.

2) The housing is noticeably slimmer and less stiff than Odyssey linear cables. I suspect this is not a good sign of things to come.

Pros

1) Kink uses extra long ferrules, which I like.

2) Having the adjustment on the brake arm-side of the hanger seems to be working fine.

I've just been through the fucking ringer trying to sort out brakes to clear a 2.25 Aitken. Evo IIs didn't stand a chance. I ended up filing out the insides of some OG Fly arms and they are working well now, but I also got ahold of some Shadow arms in the event that I need them and they seem to have a lot of clearance on the inside of the arms.

Good luck.
