Even if someone has handled firearms before?

Sure.  I enjoy shooting my rifles way more than my handgun.  It all depends on the intended use though.

If you need something easily portable, get a handgun.  Otherwise a rifle outperforms a handgun in every category.

For you first time gun buyers, I recommend a rifle rather than a pistol.  That is unless you are dead set on concealed carry.

I shot a Glock .45 once and wasn't a fan of how it felt in my hand, felt kinda cheap but  for adding to your armory though :)

Glocks don't fit my hands either.  Can't argue with their reputation though.

On another note, I hit up the range over the holidays.  Buddy brought his new Socom16 with him.  Man, that is one sweet rifle.  Feels a lot different than my 22" barrell.  Its really fun to throw around and dump mags. :D

Idk what weapons they use there, but if its the standard 9mm the norwegian forces use(P80), then its not powerfull enough to kill a cow...

Precisely.  Seems a head shot would be the best way to go.  Or a rope.

I'll put this here since posting it in a 10 day old thread is apparently against the rules.

This is some horrible shooting.  These cops may need a bit more range time and some hunting lessons.

That's sick.  A good friend of mine works at a national distributor.  He gets hooked up on prices and sales awards all the time.  Sometimes the deals get passed on(*cough*acog*cough).

One thing I am not to fond of is the forward sight mounting, of course that can be worked around.

Yeah, sage stock minus all of the forward rail would be nice.

I have used the sage, j allen etc every nice m1a stock from $800 to $2500 and they all suck compared to a good old fiberglass or walnut supermatch stock.

I just want something with a solid bedding.  I've read the Springfield syn stocks are the flimsiest of them all (what I have).  Also, having a raised/adjustable cheek rest would be nice without having to use some strap on pad or something. I have seen the adjustable cheek rest you can drill and install yourself but not sure how well they turn out.

Interesting.  I haven't seen that particular M1A stock.  I've been looking at this one.

Haha.  I have the TA31 which has the shortest eye relief out of the ACOGs.  Something like 1.5 or 1.8 inches.  So shooting NTCH (nose to charging handle) works out perfect.

^Same here.  Some say the webbing width is too thin and it just doesn't hold up long term.  I have heard good things about the Vickers slings but haven't looked into them real serious yet.

So, I'm pretty stoked.  Went out Saturday and sighted in my BUIS and ACOG.  The illuminated reticle is slicker than owl shit and it's nice having an optic on one of my centerfire rifles now.

Also, found a member only range even closer to me than the public range.  Not too expensive and they currently have a 300 yd rifle range (I have been limited to 100), pistol range, and shotgun area.  Steel targets are allowed too.  Should be joining soon.  Good times.

Interesting.  I looked it up and now see the Magpul stuff you are talking about on a separate site.

I know that but some people use real deal optics, mounts, grips, stocks, etc.
