i thought the sean sexton grips would be thick at a supposed 31 or 32mm diameter according to Dan's--but they're really not. Quite thin feeling actually

Hoder's felt thick tho

The Bike Shop / Re: Keychain woes?
« on: December 13, 2015, 11:11:32 AM »
anyone sorted their noisey notchy horrible feeling chain?

my bsd halflink was like this, I ground down the inside tips of the chain plates so they didn't touch the driver, problem solved. can't figure out what the problem is with the keychain though as it's loads slimmer and doesn't rub.

to the eye it looks like the chain has a different pitch than the sprocket? I thought about comparing tooth profile but it looks like people with odyssey sprockets are having a problem as well

Have you tried adding some more lube? Most of the people I have heard with that issue have found lube sorts it.

:)
G.

I may have to get some lube for mine as the chain squeakiness is the only noise my bike makes! But on the other hand, i'd like to think that the rust also keeps my cranks from moving as much...

Edit: still want to add that they keychain on a 16/9 drive train and TIGHT as you can get with lots of pedal pressure has been holding up FANTASTICALLY without a peep for 18 months now.

Cult is really good but will need to be drilled out for the keychain

I use Triflow on both of my bikes and it works well but I've noticed that my drivetrain collects a lot dirt and grime this time of year. I'm wondering if it is a good idea to switch to a dry lube  like that waxy White Lightning stuff for the winter. What do you people use?

i usually dont use any lube at all, but also like my chain and cranks not to move. so it's rust for me now ha, but i have used tri flow before and did not notice any extra buildup. however i always wiped off the excess.

are you running the chain through a rag or towel after you lube it to get any excess off?

182 3x for just about any non aero rim. 2 extra turns on the drive side. Most of the time. Your mileage may vary and all that shit.

2 extra turns on the drive side?
wow had no idea I was supposed to do this. I just try to keep the tension even. Running mine at 4x btw

Different sized flanges. How is your wheel dished?

Not sure since I don't have a truing stand
I may have to mess with it over the holidays

Edit: but just remembered I should be running by empire next week so I'll have them check it out!

Just make sure your chain line is good and that your cranks are evenly on the spindle and you are good! My buddy runs his like that btw

My hollow pin Keychain is still going strong after a year and half (right when they first came out)

I use lots of pedal pressure and keep it TIGHT! And it is fully rusted out too, but runs smooth.

Twice I have had to retighten the pins on the master link but other than that it stays dialed.

if you got a grinder you could easily grind some of the material down from the crown that is just there bc the designer Chase G didn't like the toe of his shoe jamming in there a certain way.

The Bike Shop / Lotek???
« on: October 31, 2015, 11:25:25 AM »
So i'm looking to transition into a new model of shoes since etnies stopped making the Number (aaron ross sig). I've had loteks before and was pretty happy with them, but i'm wondering if they have a new 2016 model coming out or anything in the works since Dan's doesn't seem to have much in stock. I really like the Nightwolf (aitken sig) bc of the midtop design.

So is Lotek still kickin, taking a break or calling it quits? Their instagram was active earlier in the week I might add

Dans usually has a few good choices of cold weather riding gloves

Thermal long sleeve shirts

Beanie

Warm shoes

Dressing in layers

It's important to keep the extremities warm like hands, feet and head since that is where the body is most susceptible to outside temps.
