parts are subject to change, i built it up quick as i could this evening with what i had close at hand so i could ride it.

The Bike Shop / Eclat blind freecoaster issues - halp

Ok so my mate got a wtp envy complete today, which came with an eclat blind hub.

i took the hub apart to see if we could switch it over to lhd for him, turns out you need a set of lhd pawls for it. bit of a pain in the arse but ok.

however since putting it back together it just wont run properly. either it makes horrendous grinding scraping noises and locks up, or it wont engage at all. ive managed to find fuck all documentation about the hub (seems like its discontinued now), and although theres a video about how to switch it from rhd to lhd, theres no mention of the resistance system and how to tune that in.



as far as i can tell, you adjust the resistance by adjusting those grub screws on the metal thing that sits behind the driver, so it drags a little bit but not too much. i dont know that for certain cos i couldnt find any explaination of how it works online-seems eclat and wtp have both switched over to yuhubs now (probably cos they got fed up with dealing with this stupid system).

Ive tryed adjusting the grubs screws but the ring wont create drag consistantly, like itll drag at one position but then just spins freely the rest of the time and wont engage. 2 of the grub screws stripped out instantly as soon as i put an allen key in them, and the rest i just cant get sorted.

am i missing something here and being dumb? or is this really just a fuckin stupid flimsy shitty coaster mechanism? i heard some people had problems (mostly with the spring that sits over the pawls), and i heard other people say these hubs were great.

im fuckin over it, and over eclat. all that marketing spew on their website about simplicity, yeah back to the catalogue clone parts cos your product design team sucks (this bike also has those stupid slotted spindle cranks on it-a mechanism which seems to infact make it harder to get the crankarm off because if some goon in the bikeshop cranks it down when they build the bike up, you still have to belt the arm off with a rubber mallet for like 5 minutes anyway)

anyway thats my story/rant, any help would be greatly appreciated. if anyone owns one of these hubs aftermarket and has the instructions that come with it they could scan in, that would be amazing too.

Hey as those who follow me on insta might have noticed, i ripped all the skin off my palm again last week, so am now in the market for some riding gloves.

recommend me some please, only requirement is that theyre fingerless (cos straya is hot) and not stupid looking. ive no idea whats out there these days. i had some fox ones like 12 years ago when i started riding, but havent worn gloves since i discovered longnecks

The Bike Shop / Ghost pedalling halp

So my hub started ghost pedalling a few months back and now its driving me nuts cos of all the dumb dorky no footed stuff and standing on my pegs i do.

I took it all apart yesterday, cleaned out all the grease and replaced it with oil, hoping that would make it smoother and stop ghosting but no joy. its always in the same spot too, i ride right foot forward and the cranks always start ghosting until theyre the other way around (left pedal forwards) then stop, meaning half the time im having to land switch footed which is shit.
Hub is a ratchet, 9t driver, been cared for and maintained pretty decently.

axle is a zodiac ti one, i was wondering if this could be slightly bent and causing the issue.

other thing im wondering about is the weight distribution of the cranks/pedals etc, ive had that happen before cos i grind on my right pedal so that would always become lighter than the left one and rise to the top all the time (especially with metal pedals). only thing is this time they always end up flat, just left foot forward instead. i like my chain loose for crankflips so that might be a factor too.

give me some advice/thoughts. final option is to source a profile axle thats not cut down and run my ss hub instead

So bike parts are pretty good these days generally, but some are still heinous looking, especially now that everyones so street and not building their bikes to achieve more forum comments (well not outside of the dark blue sphere anyway). So post some modern bike parts that are disgusting looking for my amusement, and so we can all be snobby


powerbites were never the most svelte cranks, but somehow the weird abomnation that primo is nowadays managed to make them worse looking, and less practical (2pc is sooooo 2012)



Equally, not content with their "optimus prime's penis" onyx cranks, eclat also apparently felt the need to make their cranks look even worse as well



Personally, i can get on board with coloured tyres, if the colour is right and it works with the rest of the bike, but this is getting stupid now

Is it safe to sand the white corroded stuff off or not?
