How do you like the 50 1.4G freebirdrider27 ?

I enjoy my 1.8D alot and was thinking about upgrading to the 1.4G . I read alot of reviews on it and I pretty much made my mind I would purhcase it really soon but I wouldnt mind hearing how you feel about it.

Thanks

It's a huge improvement over the old 50 1.4, very fast AF, better contrast wide open and very light. If you plan on upgrading and don't have any old film cameras(the 50 1.4G won't work on any manual focus Nikons), its definitely worth the money, I keep the lens on my camera all the time.

Yeah man totally agree im thinking like Lf and 6x6 for me i got some atl 2 real cheap so i can process  at home now so makes it even better.

plus you can print too, which i want to do.

he can probably sell it for more than he got it for like me, instead of keeping it then it being worthless, e.g d200. although Fx will probably keep its prices.

can always buy another d700 if he changed his mind.

I got the D700 right when it came out and paid around $3200 with tax... I'm loosing about $800 which ain't that bad, I really would like to take a road trip or something with the money I get from selling my digital.

He means he is going to wait until they're cheaper to go back to digital, I believe.

Yeah that's what I meant... It's an awesome camera don't get me wrong, I don't get any income from photography and I would rather shoot film as I have access to a minilab where I work now, and its alot cheaper, and its more exciting having to wait to see your pictures.

Back to film?
Sounds good to me so much more fun , colours etc too.
Im thinking of selling my stuff too.

Yeah, I'm gonna wait till the used prices go down on the D700 or maybe wait till the replacement comes out and get that. I find film more gratifying then digital, I kind of want to get either a 6x7 or LF again.

You have 2 F100's?  My friend is looking to pick one up.

Yeah if I get rid of the D700, I planned on using one for B&W and the other for color film. How much is he looking to spend, I may get rid of it if I can't sell the 700.

I just purchased .mac and I was trying to update my email address for the forums here, and it says I cannot use any account from free email companies or something along those lines. Is there any way around this? Its not like .mac  email address are free.

No Excessive Bumping. It gets annoying for some people

Image Size - No Larger then 700px on the longest dimension
It shouldn't be to hard to figure out...

  • For a landscape orientated photo - 700px X 550px
  • For a portrait orientated photo - 550px X 700px
  • Square is obvious - 700px X 700px

There is only one exception to the Image Size rule and that is when your posting an "scientific" example such as how much noise a camera has, sharpness of a lens, etc. The max. dimension should be no longer then 1500px in that case.

I'm going to go on a whim and say that we can post stuff for sale here. I've asked Sheep about getting a dedicated forum for selling photo and video gear but he didn't like the idea.
