I was never really into Harleys until recently, when I was getting a little fed up working on my 70s yamaha xs650 chopper. All the fabrication has been time consuming (but fun!) and every little step has it's own problem solving puzzle.

It's actually pretty close to being done:

But there's still a little left before it's back on the road (sissy bar fab, paint, wiring, etc)...

So I decided to drop in on a daily commuter. I'd heard the Harley EVO engines were count-on-able, so I picked up this 2003 1200 Sportster off craigslist with some minor damage and rebuilt the front end and customized it a bit:

As I bought it (well, I put on that little moon eyes air filter) ^

How I ride it everyday since ^

I'll say it's nice to have that 1200 engine for freeway missions (virtually anytime you go anywhere in southern california) and I'm happy to know my bike won't be puzzling me on longer trips. So far the longest has been to LA and back but maybe out to here this weekend:

Woo motorcycles~

I really appreciate him as the antithesis of the smooth tech four pegs freecoaster movement.

Brian was a really nice guy and a good dude all around, at least from what I could tell.

I had the pleasure of meeting him once or twice, briefly, and he was always stoked. He even bought a painting of mine for his girlfriend at one point, which I thought was sweet. Hope she is doing alright.

Hope his consciousness is still out there and people remember him well (which seems to be the case based on this thread).

Friday night indoor sessions are good! Even though the internet ruined the quality of these photos.

Fuckin' great stuff right there.

Also I had the pleasure of riding that ramp once! So amazing! Pretty sure someone put on a full face and did a backflip to sprocket bash.

The wallride on the other side was a treat as well.

Little guy

'Yalor' Japanese steel stabber
(can't remember where it came from)

Machete in need of some serious TLC
(picked it up on vacation as a kid because I thought it was badass and it actually came it handy when camping as a teenager)

In the modern age there is a blending of the table and the invert called the tabes-vert.

Look to guys like Chase Hawk, Chad Kerley, etc.

Essentially invert + bar turn, no matter how slight.

I think they're beautiful, though I still am a sucker for a good invert or a good tabletop.

Hoang invert:

It's insane just how much one guy influenced a new generation of riders.

We should also enlist Ryan Roberts and Tom Perry for this.

Definitely trying to ride some NW concrete this year.
