The Bike Shop / Different take on bearings/flange in hubs
« on: September 03, 2017, 08:40:24 AM »
Spotted this on some Eurobike coverage and thought I'd post it. Sort of hub flange micro suspension that keeps the hub spinning smoother and also keeps spoke tension away from the bearings. Interesting to see a different take on this and even little things like the spherical cone nut. I wonder if it would be any benefit to BMX bikes and how that flange would look after a couple of grinds.

The Bike Shop / Tubeless bmx

I got a pinch flat at the park the other day and it really fucked me off. Has anyone made a tubeless bmx rim or tyre yet? I know Alienation were trying it for racing but they seem to be a ghost town these days.

Option B. Has anyone converted 2.25 Rubens for tubeless using Stans? Will it give me an extra inch in length or girth?

The Bike Shop / Mtb clothes (that don't look ridiculous)?
« on: November 17, 2016, 05:14:30 AM »
So the jean shorts and tee shirt are getting a bit old on longer mtb rides. I was considering getting some kit that might breathe better/be more fit for purpose but I can't find shit that doesn't look like it was made for a power ranger or motocross bogan. Could someone please find me some mtb shorts which meet these requirements:

-Doesn't look like they were made for someone into DC shoes and energy drinks
-Will cover knee pads but not be any longer than they need to be
-Prefer no liner
-Black and as close to no graphics as possible

Cheers

Anyone tried one out yet? Look pretty cool. Doesn't use the 'KHE style' spring setup. Also, does anyone know if the old KHE 11t drivers will work with the new style hubs like this and the Clutch?

The Bike Shop / Big bike question
« on: July 07, 2015, 08:37:32 PM »
Howdy folks,

I've got a Fairdale Parser Express that I really like but I'm toying with the idea of getting some gears for mack's speed. Anyone put gears on a bike with 120mm spacing? I've seen a this kit http://www.fyxation.com/products/six-fyx-conversion-kit and it is affordable but 1- it might be  shit and 2- dropout converter thing might be a no go with the thick dropouts on the Fairdale. I've heard internal gear hubs like Alfine 8 speed are good and there are shifters available for drop bars, problem is they are spaced to 135mm and weigh a ton. Any ideas before n+1 comes into play?
