Broke it. Down to 33 spokes in a 48h wheel. Safe to say I need to rebuild it.

Fine work Sammm. Flagpole posts FTW

Haven't noticed your name in a while, got a new bike check/edit to share?

Flagpole 4 lyf.

Haven't been riding much the past few months, and then the bookmark I had for bikeguide never worked as it was before the union take over and I assumed bikeguide had fully died but then I realised if I went via bmx union my beloved forum was still here.

Nothing has changed on my bike, but recent photos can be found here http://www.bikeguide.org/forum/index.php/topic,206059.msg3685483.html#msg3685483 No idea how to properly insert a link as I've had a few too many

No edit as I haven't got a camera, the only clip I have is from a friends instagram
http://web.stagram.com/p/686223842733303530_1940360

Will aim to get more clips soon

fuck yeah crankarm crook, tryed this a few times before but never found a ledge of the optimum width for it to work properly

Dunno if that front peg is touching the ledge at all

Hufnagel is correct. In that particular crank the front peg aint touching, but it did happen a few times and since the ledge is seemingly covered in super glue, it resulted in me going over the bars a lot.

Re my driveside hubguard woes. plastic DSG does rub with 10t ratchet/bluebird chain but it works. can hear the chain rubbing but it's nothing too bad, and the plastic is wearing away sharpish so i would imagine the rumble will stop soon. as for the strength of plastic guard, so far so good. being on my favoured grind side it takes less hits than my oppy side but it's taken a few sketchy peggers and it hasn't melted in yet. time will tell.

Is there actually a drive side guard (ideally steel, aluminium will suffice - fuck that plastic shit) for a 10t g-sport ratchet or do I really have to fork out 60 notes for a 9t driver and deal with the change in GI just so i can prevent snapping my chain?

i've got a primo one in the post but i've now been told the bastard doesn't work with a 10t driver which sucks and i know the bsd one is tight on a 9 so no chance on a 10.

^Pretty sure it depends on the lever. Some levers the cable will come out along the underside of the bar and goes under the tape, some (I guess higher end levers) will run the cable through the bars. If yours goes through the bars, you will of course need a hole for the cable to exit.

Do I detect a lack of pegs Sam?

You do. Currently no pegs no brakes. Barely ride these days but when I do I like to pretend I'm  Russell Wadlin so it's pedal grinds all day

they are left/right specific and wont fit into each other.

the original body replacement packaging comes with a side for each, many bikeshops that stocks them split the sides themselves and charge you for one side i think (effectively doubling the price).

the way Empire sells them is USD 7 per order:
http://www.empirebmx.com/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9669

you get two 'halves' of the same side

i'd imagine it being the same in england, spend 20 quid now, you'll get a total of four halves.

Fair shout. Guess it doesn't break the bank too much, just me being a poor student. 4 halves should last be long enough so I'll do that. Cheers

Are JCPC pedal bodies really side specific? I need new bodies for my grinding side both left and right. Do I really have to spend 2x£9.99  or can I just buy one body, use one side on the right and one on the left?
is it a case of it not fitting or will it just look/feel a bit different? Given it's the side i grind on i don't really care if it feels odd or anything because my feet won't be touching it

This is probably very poorly worded.

Yeah Hufnagel I figured it would be a daft job that's far beyond my capabilities of hitting things with hammers until they work but I asked anyway. I think I'll get used to it soon enough anyway, just been riding 160mm flatware cranks and it feels very strange now.

The sprocket will clear the frame for sure, Ive had a 36t tree on there before with no issues, filing down the wee edge should be no problem. Thanks pals

3 questions:

Is there a feasible way for me to shorten my 175mm Powerbites to 160mm?

Or is there a way I can make my 175mm Powerbites feel like 160mm?

Or should I just stop being a nonce and deal with it?

Edit: fuck it, 5 questions:

what's the best guard sprocket about these days? dual guard MDS? will it fit powerbite cranks? (I remember reading a file is needed, I own a file so that's fine)

also are cranks measured centre of bb spindle to centre of pedal spindle? my powerbites are so beat they don't seem to have any measurements stamped anywhere
