I got a new Chicago Typewriter.

That CRC hydragraphics is sick....but wayyy too expensive.

Also whats the deal with piston ARs?

DI clearly works fine and there aren't any problems, unless youre running a 14 inch barreled gun, which needs a stamp. Then you get an advantage.

If its not broke don't fix it? The proprietary uppers that have pistons are cool but I don't like the piston kits and shit like that. Save the pistons for the AKs and the m4s. DI is good in my book.

M4's aren't even piston... Just a plain old colt AR upper on it.

Yeah not the real army/FA ones, but the whole idea with the pistons is that they work on shorter barrels, but not better on rifle length 16"+ systems.

Im a big fan of FALs, M14s and AKs. 5.56 just doesnt do it for me. Thats the bias haha.

Although id love to have x51 cost near 5.56! I cant get away from combloc stuff.

One of the main reasons I bought an AR. Ammo costs me around $.40/rnd vs $.53/rnd for 7.62.

As for the AK, does anyone mill their own receivers? Are there any drawings floating around so an individual could machine one? (I don't know shit about AKs)

7.62 ammo is much cheaper then that.
Try 18 cents per round and Brown Bear is decent and non-corrosive.

My $.53/rnd price is what I paid for a bunch a few years ago and still have. I only buy quality ammo with nice brass and boxed primers.

Putting brass through an AR might be great, but anything other then Czechoslovakian brass(You can get 500 rds for $130 but it's corrosive) or steel is a waste in an AK.

I hear ya on that. If I had an AK it would be less about accuracy and more about reliability, including shooting whatever ammo I could find.

As of now I save my brass for future reloading or reselling. That's the main reason I buy nice stuff.

There are files here for quite a few firearms, one being an AK. It is for a bent receiver though I believe. I haven't opened that one up yet. I haven't been able to find any files/prints for a milled receiver. As far as I am aware though, the style of AK plays a big part in this so there are at least a few different types of receiver.

You can always go the 80% flat route as well, unless you are set on milling.

Thanks for the info bruh. I am in fact interested in checking out the drawings for a milled receiver as opposed to the flats. Trying to get a feel for the complexity of the piece. For now Im just trying to gather projects for when things slow down and I can hopefully get a free machine to learn on and make some shit here at work.

I found a milled 80% AR lower near by that I am in the process of picking up. Now that my 1911 is finished I want to build something else.

Im just not a fan of glocks, they're nice for sure but just not for me. The PPS is also slimmer in thickness then the G27.

Hey dudes. Seeking advice.

In preparation for a possible optics setup I want to go ahead and get rid of my carry handle (BOUNCEHOUSE420, still interested?) and get a folding rear sight. I have a standard front fixed sight. See here.

After a bit of reading I am leaning toward this Troy piece.
