What are the Go/No-Go gauges for?  to check the head-spacing?

it's the overall build quality, the peli cases are in another league to those cheap generic cases, the hinges, sealing, wall thickness, everything, it'll be safer and nicer to use too,
peli make great quality kit,
have a search for hardigg cases too, just as good as peli if not better,

Pelican owns hardrigg.. they are also way heavier..

What are some good complete lowers? I am looking to 'build' my first ar but I dont thikn I would be able to do the trigger and ish by myself so I am looking for a complete. Spikes and BCM seem to have a good rep but is there anything else out there? going to go with a .300 blackout I think..

I guarantee you can assemble the lower by yourself. It's ridiculously easy... everything just snaps or screws together.

The upper is another story. Properly mounting and torquing the barrel involves special tools like a vice block, barrel wrench, etc. If you assemble the BCG yourself you also have to stake the gas key and headspace it in the barrel extension. More special tools required.

I'd buy a complete upper, a stripped lower, and a lower parts kit for a DIY AR. No special tools required.

EDIT: Just realized I didn't answer your question... a lower is a lower for the most part among the entry level to mid range brands. Pick the brand you like best. I prefer to match the brands for the lower and upper receivers. I think it gives a better/tighter fit between them if they are from the same manufacturer.

i'm about to get a realtree mossberg 535 in a trade, from what i can tell its a solid 12 guage? its a even value trade so i'm not worried about value from what I can tell. just curious if anyone has one and if they enjoy it, etc. i'll post pics when i pick it up early next week. has a 24 and a 28 inch barrel, and 3 stocks for the 28, 1 for the 24.

just was curious on peoples opinions and pumped on my second gun, been wanting a 12 guage for awhile and finally an ideal trade offer came through!

Get it and cut down one of the barrels to 18.5" and use it with the shortest stock you have. Keep the longer setup for trap/skeet.

18.5 is not sawed off.. 14" is. Decides on a lmt lower, they don't look to hard to throw together

What's a decent price for a used Glock 17 with 2 17rd magazines?

It would have been great to have parents, but it made BMX so much more hardcore and real not being able to buy anything new, ever.

How used? What Generation? I'd say $350ish for a run of the mill used Glock IMO.

I agree. Have a gunsmith do the work for you, it's not too expensive. A shotgun with anything over a 20" barrel is worthless for defense work.

US NFA rules: minimum overall length = 26" (horizontal line running parallel to the bore). Minimum barrel length = 18" (measured by the length of a stick in the barrel touching the bolt face on a closed action, to the edge of the bore)

Anything that fits within those guidelines is legal without an NFA tax stamp.

Short barrel shotguns (barrels under 18") are legal in most states as an SBS, and shotguns under 26" are legal in most states as an AOW, as long as you have NFA tax stamps for them.

LMT doesn't sell stripped lowers if that's what you're looking for.

I'm implying you don't need two long barrels and can sacrifice one for a HD barrel at 18.5". Getting it that short you'll have to saw off the end, yes. Just don't go below 18.5"

CA maximum mag capacity is 10 rounds. You can buy full capacity mags as rebuild kits though and keep them in pieces.

Picked up a Gen 4 G23, i love it so far, 500 flawless rounds.  Thinking of picking up a Springfield Trophy Match 1911, any thoughts?

My favorite handgun.
