I'm looking into moving, or at least visiting Oregon when I get done with school next May.
I really want to move there, but I am not too smart on where to go there.. for those who do live there, or go there a lot, what are some nice places? preferably within like an hour or so to the ocean..
I'm probably just going to visit when I get out of school, and if I like it enough, I'll end up moving there.
I want to live in a smallish town, like 50k people max.. the town I live in now has like 15k max and I want to go somewhere a bit bigger haha..
Any recommendations, tips, pointers, living fee's, anything like that is greatly appreciated.. thanks!

Do it, portland is the largest city in Oregon. Also the best city, Your an hour from the mountain and an hour from the beach! Awesome riding, cool city, downtowns awesome, Just everything about it is awesome

you could move to wyoming too, think about it
Most of the towns in western Oregon are within about an hour of the mountains and oceans. The northern part of the state (Portland, Salem, Eugene) gets more rain, but is cooler in the summer. The southern towns,(Medford, Ashland, Grants Pass) have milder winters, and hotter summers. There are good concrete parks in both areas.

If you go visit, I HIGHLY recommend getting over to the central coast. The Reedsport and Florence skateparks are amazing. Go to www.skateoregon.com and scope 'em.
Portland is pretty awesome, for sure. City with a small town feel.
The parks in southern Oregon are definitely fun, but it is hot as balls during the summer and pretty damn cold in the winter.

Oregon is the chronic if you like flowy bike friendly skateparks. I live in a small oregon coastal town of about 4000 people and we have an awsome park but I am the only one here that rides bmx. winters here are not the best but we still get quite a few dry days in, summer time is the best! :)
Portland- amazing parks and street, LOTS of riders with a good scene, but always crowded
Coast towns- Even better parks, NO riding scene hardly at all, parks are usually pretty emptied out.
im moving to portland in a couple months, but im always gonna be a coastie, i just love the landscape here

I know a few people who live in Oregon. 1 Hood River and 1 in Portland. They speak highly of Oregon, and are pretty big into biking. Well Mountainbiking. Mainly on Black Rock... They also snowboard, as I hear it's pretty good out there? One is big into the skate scene, as he was an ex pro skater and snowboarder... Mike Estes ring a bell to any one in the Portland/Hood River area?

Oregon is awesome. One of my old roommates parents lived in Coos Bay. I went there with him one time. It's a beautiful part of the country.
Edit: It'd be one hell of an upgrade from Kansas.

Oregon is great. Beautiful country, progressive towns, and the awesome Pacific Northwest vibe. There was a point when I was seriously considering moving to Portland after school. Hell, I still might.

I've spent much time in Oregon, thinking about moving there for awhile when the time comes to leave SoCal before returning to Chicago.
