I for one am super stoked on this, and will definitely be picking up a blue 20" when they're out.

Its not long enough. We need more companies that always make a few 21.25 frames atleast.

Tall dudes, back me up.

Idk man, i recently switched from a 21.125 tt frame with a 75 to a 21" 2nd wave and it feels way bigger for some reason?

Anon.

Slightly underwhelming considering the months of hype, but it seems a pretty solid frame.

So whats the difference between the other sunday frames?

Funday and Aross?

bluebmx
10-30-2008, 03:18 PM
if it was a 11.75bb i'd already have pre-ordered one, even if that isn't yet possible.

To sum things up, .25 shorter rear end and .25 lower BB. Gyro tabs (removable) and lighter.

Where did they take the extra weight from?

where is the cable stop? It just shows to two cable guides on the frame, but there is no stop where the barrel adjust goes? WTF?

you can just put a barrel adjuster in the cable stop and it works

depends on how they measured it. the 13.75 measurement on the 2nd waves seems to be center to center. if this is measured the same it's gonna have a mad short rear slammed.

Does the second waves slam at 13.5" then? I might take a 2nd wave over the funday if so. I think I want to experiment with a higher bb height since I'm running 11.5" now.

Pretty sad, they were supposed to be out late fall. Ive been waiting since I read they were coming out with a frame that was 11.5. I guess preordering one is the best I can do short of more bitching. Blue 21 no brakes, excited!

Aren't the 2nd Waves 4.something lb too?

And my New Wave seems to be 13.75" slammed, I have 30:11 with no half link (so xx.375" & xx.875" lengths) and there's a 1/8" gap. But it's not a 2nd Wave so I dunno.

I'm way way way jazzed that they are finally offering a 20" toptube coupled with the shorter rear end.

Pretty smart move.
I'll be purchasing as soon as it drops.

So wait...

The Funday to the Wave2 has about the same amount of differences as a Dakota to a 3.5

Why is there less hate?

there is a big bb height change and maybe a slight chainstay difference (matters who is measureing right now) and i think a few oz difference maybe? the dak and 3.5 are the exact same geo and weight.

double standard anyone..?

big_papa_nuts
10-31-2008, 01:18 PM
dak to an s 3.5 is a matter of a gusset and and 1 or 2 different tubes. he could just ride a custom and no one would know.

the funday has a couple major geo changes. thus making sense to make it a "signature" frame.

BB height alone makes a huge difference.

I'm going to guess the photos were taken before the headtube and BB were reamed.

haha, I thought this. Not sure if it will make any difference to the headset although I had to take sandpaper to my ovoid headtube when I got it.

I remember getting pieces of card in my crank shell form older frames; didn't really matter then but with the integrated headset/cupless BB age its quite important.

The Funday to the Wave2 has about the same amount of differences as a Dakota to a 3.5

Why is there less hate?

Because where the Funday has all of the features that make Sunday frames so good, but with significantly different geometry, the Dak/3.5 have the exact same geometry and slightly different tubing, making them the same to ride.

Pretty sure the production frames, like all current and previous Sundays will not have paint in the BB or HT.

Why does ian shwartz (pegless guy who rides backwards all day) get a heavier frame then ross?

Why does ian shwartz (pegless guy who rides backwards all day) get a heavier frame then ross?

It has an integrated Pivotal post and he grinds on the frame...

And I think everyone here knows what Ian Schwartz does.

Yea I'm 5'10", and I'm going to get this in 20". Don't really think you could consider me tall but I don't see the need for a frame over 21" unless you are 6'5" plus and have back issues.

well obviously you wouldnt, being 5'10". seriously though, 21" feels short to me these days and im around 6'3".

Back when I use to race, I went from a 125 Motocross, to a 125R, to a prototype with the same geo... the tubes were "slightly" different, but they did NOT feel the same.

I don't but I'd imagine it's because so many people want to make things so much easier for them. "OMG if my CS isn't 13.2 there's no way I'm going to be able to manual or 360. 74 degree HT?! NO WAY IM NOSE MANUALING!"

I hate that kind of thing ("trick specific" geo), it is silly. But having geo that you are comfortable on will make you ride better and enjoy it more.
