can you describe it more? is it one single click everytime you stop pedalling (and the wheel is rolling)? is it a constant 'ping, ping, ping'?

how long have you ridden the coaster, and when have you last cleaned out the clutch? (i mean the actual engagment mechanism)

Single click every time I stop pedaling but the wheel is still rolling.

Sounds awful.

that suggests the noise comes from something disengaging. if the clutch mechanism is 'sticky' this may happen, which just requires a cleaning

however, more things happen when you stop pedalling - chain loses the tension from your weight, rear cog no longer 'pulling' the hub to spin the wheel, etc. these can all make a noise potentially.

if you take off your chain and turn the rear cog by hand, can you replicate the noise? did any of your mates put a tiny steel ball bearing in your frame just to fuck with you? how worn is the sprocket/chain/rear cog? there're many things possible, need some narrowing down to the hub.

what does the noise sound like? a ping? a twang? click? is there a crack on the hub body?

Freecoaster is new
Chain is new
Sprocket is brand new

The sound is coming from inside he hub.

I know spraying WD-40 inside the hub will destroy it. But is there an actual lubricant I can spray into the slack adjusting hole to grease the hell out of the hub to get the clutch to stop sticking?

Tubes of grease are actually like tubes of toothpaste... if you press pretty hard then a bunch will shoot out at once. Try that.

Ive had similar noises from one of my many KHE-style coasters where it made a loud noise when disengaging.
Think it had to do with the clutch having sharp edges. Didnt damage the hub, just made a loud noise.

If it is too annoying I think you can very sligthly file off the top micro-meter of where the clutch engage the hub. I would assume that this could change how evenly the clutch catches the hub Shell though, rendering this a stupid idea.

stuff often comes with way too much grease in it.  have you taken the hub apart at all? seen the youtubes of how to do it?  ediot should know what he's talking about here, regarding the stickyness. Or maybe it's something else, I don't know. I've had the hub for a year now(?) and still haven't built it up, but I know that george has mentioned the grease/lube a few times - that you don't need to add any when you install it because it already has more than necessary...

ediot, please post the yellow Standard. I never get sick of seeing that bike

Clutch pop is common and should disappear overtime as it breaks in

This is what I'm thinking. Break that thing in.

Mine did that too.

I took it apart and packed it full of Park grease. It stopped doing it.

Mine did this when i first got it, it stopped. About 6 months later started doing it again and worse. Now my hub locks up after a hard pedal. Is there a fix for this?

My buddy (who's a 8 year long coaster guy) Clutch was doing this as well, shortly after the Helical slack adjuster blew up into tiny pieces. He's back on his Federal coaster.
