Winter Break Road Trip - NH to TX, NM, and back
« on: December 16, 2015, 11:08:25 PM »

So here's my rough plan based on people I am probably visiting. Probably leaving on the 22nd/23rd and taking the southern route to Houston first, then the rest of it after Christmas and getting back here around the 2nd. Looks like an average of 8-10 hours of driving a day which isn't bad. It's only about $400 in gas in my Corolla and I haven't had this much time off from work in years so I figured I need to do something.

I'll be bringing my bike, do any of you who still ride BMX want to ride along the way? And any couches/floors to sleep on in case people fall through? Also interested in any racecar/driftcar or music things going on.

Damn, I have two and a half weeks off starting tomorrow. I need to do something like this.

Edit: But fuck doing something like that on my winter tires, they're super scary to drive on.

Hell yeah, PM me your number and I'll hit you up when I'm in the area? What part of Houston? I'll be staying with my best friend who lives there and will probably be around all day Saturday after Christmas.

Just do it. I'm not putting my winter tires on til after I get back. Got decent all seasons on right now and the wheel my RF snow tire is mounted to is bent to shit. Don't feel like 5000+ miles of my car shaking.

find some solid places to eat!

That's part of the plan for sure.

I would never suggest this to anyone other than a BMX rider: go to Tulsa. There are tons of good street spots all over the city, plus there's a good scene in the city. Also, St. Louis is worth checking out.

Neither of those are too far out of the way so I'll definitely try to check them out if I have time. Thanks!

Snowboarding in Taos, NM has been on my list. Should you find the ability to do it. Do it.

I have no idea how to snowboard haha. I've always been the broke kid sitting around while all my friends are out snowboarding.

Saturday after Christmas south side skatepark is having their monthly bike night. It's from 9pm to midnight and we usually hit up a 24hr Mexican restaurant on the way back to Katy /west houston. Sign a waiver and bring plastic pegs is the only requirement. I'll text you the address if you're interested.

Sounds good to me. Guess I'll go pegless since my plastic pegs were in my bag that got stolen. Or maybe I'll snag a pair on the way.

I see Cleveland in your route. You better make a stop at Ray's. If you're in the area while I'm not working, I've got a free admission pass you're welcome to.
