Not that you're asking, but the Shimano CX 77s work really well with my SRAM levers. However, they are a massive pain to set up. You need to get them perfectly parallel otherwise they are squishy as shit, and they require 3 fucking Allen keys to adjust - 5mm for cable, 3mm for outside pad, and 2.5mm for inside pad. And no finger adjustment at all.

If you're not good with mechanics I wouldn't recommend them, but if you can set them up right they feel way better than any Avid or TRP brake I have pulled

I ran ahead a bit and hid, dropped my jeans and took my top off and started chasing them whilst spraying beer all over them and making weird noises.

Are your spyres better than this?

everything is better than BB5's. If I didn't have Spyres, I would be fine with BB7s as well. BB5s belong in the trash.

To my experience, disc brakes that pull equally from both sides can deal with a lot more rotor imperfections while still feeling solid. My BB7s were not shitty by any standard but whenever the inner pad had to be backed out at all, they would feel very squishy. The Spyres can be set up ridiculously close when the rotor is new and as it gets bent/worn, you can back them out a bit and still have them feeling awesome.

Decided to give the trails a miss today and take the cube out & explore some off road/canal path routes for my commute to work. Here she is in full commute mode with saddlebag, pump & lights.

I need to raise the seat a little more and drop the tyres pressures a bit but I love how it rides.

Picked up a second hand spyre for the front. I've worked on them before so I already knew how easy they are to set up. First impressions with apex levers and avid G3 rotors are that they're nice! A little spungey but that's probably the inline adjuster I had to add.

Upgraded my surly cross check. Went with an 11-36 cassette, mavic open elites laced to Shimano 105 hubs with schwalbe marathon 35c tires,  ultegra 50-34 crankset and some origin8 moustache bars. This thing is sweet now and more suitable for touring.

The clips on these are shit, set them up (make sure they're definitely straight) drill a hole just in front of the grey handles, pop a nut and bolt through and you can smash out the mad watts without them slipping and going wonky.

Got my bikes nicked the other night, mother fuckers.

Thankfully the insurance is going to pay out but i'll still be a bit outof pocket. Bought myself this last night, seems unbeatable for the price (i paid £1200):

My new bikes ready for this weekend, can't wait, hopefully pick up on Monday. Not ridden over 5 miles since November so my cardio will be dreadful.
