Nice Bottlerocket! I've always liked the look of those and the raw looks awesome. Has anyone ridden a Stanton Slackline or NS Surge Evo? I did say I wouldn't go back to a hardtail but I'm tempted haha, just always feel well limited to DH only on my Voltage (which it is awesome at). One of those newer slack and long "hardcore hardtails" is probably the right bike for me if I can get over not having rear suspension.

Cheers Tom.

I've just got to learn how to jump a big bike properly now!

I've only heard good things about the slackline, that said I've never ridden one. Have you considered cotics?

I had a BFe years ago and it was a bit of a lump tbh. Nice geometry for riding down hill and stuff but it was a bit uninspiring for everything else, too heavy and dead feeling.

You might want a slightly bigger cassette on the back depending on how much stuff you want to carry and how many hills you want to ride up (and how hard you are). Drop bars are good for spending days in the saddle because of the different position options you have, not absolutely necessary though if you really don't want them. Other than that it looks all set.

So since I have a 12 - 28 spread on the cassette, could I achieve the same thing you are saying by changing the crankset? I want to upgrade it anyway. If I were to put on a mtb crankset with 38 and 26 tooth rings, or something like that, would that also be a good idea?

I've just ordered myself a new skid lid, fancied a new one & it just so happens that crc had £10 extra off when spending £49 or more.

Gone for an Urge Endur-o-matic.

An 11-32 cassette with your current front chainrings would probably be better. 38-12 would leave you wanting more on the downhill I think.

Yeah, I agree there. I have a short cage 105 rear deraileur though. Would it be compatible with 11-32 cassette?

You would probably need medium cage for 11-32 unless you're militant on not crossing gears too far.

You can buy a little adapter now, think it's made by wolftooth components and cost about a tenner
