Intead of all this fancy shit, why couldn't you just put a nut in the back of the crank and tighten the pedal into that?

I need to run a 135mm hub but the frame has 130mm spacing. Its an aluminium Specialized Tricross. Will I be ok if I stretch it that extra 5mm?

Aluminium frames are generally stiffer. I don't know if I would want to risk it because you will never stretch it equally each side so the wheel will always want to run slightly off. What wheel is it?

Spreading an aluminum frame is never a good idea. As previously mentioned, Aluminum is stiffer and will most likely crack before it stretches.

You could use narrower cone nuts if you can find any that fit.

Does riding a road bike work out your lower back muscles a lot? I've had a slipped disc for over 2 years now and ever since I have started riding a road bike, my back hurts a lot less. If I ride the road bike all week and the bmx bike during the weekends, I have no back pain whatsoever.

So who the fuck makes 8" rise bars in chrome and a decent width these days? I can't find any anywhere without paying through the nose. I may have to settle for raw.
