What did you do to your bike today? (v2)
« Reply #900 on: April 03, 2012, 01:23:13 PM »
Decided to check what needs sorting as Ive only ridden proper twice this year.

Back wheel is 36 down to 28 spoke (snapped another last week) when I went to check realized most are on the same side, one after another.

Going to have to take the whole thing off and pretty much rebuild it.
What a pain in the ass.
Straddle cable looks haggered but no one seems to sell them online.

Also regretting buying purple pedals and grips ages ago. I want them black now but im not wasting money on cosmetics.

Got a bunch of free tubes for it. The customer wanted to throw them away as they were punctured..

If I got more than one a year I'd quit.

For real, some people have the worst luck.. I think I've only got one flat in a year, maybe more.. yet my friend that rides less than I do has had probably 8 in the last 6 months.

I go through fazes where I'll pop tubes like once a week (so once ever two rides or so) I'm to lazy to patch tubes so I just go out and buy another thorn proof.

Blueee needs to figure out where his flats are coming from

You need to flow them to bluee. He needs them more than anyone in the history of BMX... maybe even the history of tubed tires.

He said he ran over glass and also had a Goathead in his front tire, he knows where they are coming from. I think he may need to be careful, I have almost the same tire set up as him(but a KHE street), I almost pay too much attention as what is on the ground in front of me.

i put my older t1 moody/hickerson back together for further testing purposes. i didn't give it a fair enough test the first time i had it built up. i'm too much of a girly man to pry the stays apart far enough for my s&m cymbal guard to work, so i took the pegs off for now while i'm testing it. the frame is in really good condition and i tend to grind like a mongoloid, so i don't wanna wreck the dropouts (or my spokes) and realize i want to sell the frame for a decent amount. now i'm about to go lurk around my apartment and see if i can cut a brake cable off of someone's POS so i can run a rear brake tonight. i think i already robbed the ones off my girlfriend's beach cruiser.

Lowered my seat, realized it sucked, raised it.

Flipped my stem, decided I need a top load.

I forgot to say what I did with my bike today... Crammed it into the back of a taxi, listen to the driver rave about how perfect my welds are on the frame, and that the antifreeze green is "the most bitchin' green, goes perfect with the chrome and bare metal". Yanked it out of the taxi.
Rode home and bombed down a pretty large hill on a busy road under construction. I was nervous I was going to get run off the road and into a sign or something. But I then realized I needed to slow down because I am starting to pass the cars. As I was passing one car the guy yelled "I'm going 30, you're hauling ass". So I would say I was cooking pretty good in that crammed area.

i just ganked a brake cable from my gf's older bike, then searched all over to find all the bits to rig up my brake. i put the brakes on, cut the cable housing, adjusted pads and tension, put the lever on. then i went to put the inner cable in the housing only to realize that it was a foot short and my housing was cut short enough for one barspin. now my back is too sore to ride tonight from sifting through various bins and bending over trying to work on my bike at ground level. oh well. you win some, you lose some.

Fixed my old bike today, the one I sold to a 13 year old shredder. Relaced the wheels, new cranks, bars, and forks on it.

This is what my old LAF turned into. He traded the frame for a Luna that was better suited for his little stature.

Pulled my evil hardtail out of the box, put it back together for a ride this afternoon.
Waiting on my nature boy to show up this afternoon so I can put that back together as well.

It would have been great to have parents, but it made BMX so much more hardcore and real not being able to buy anything new, ever.
