This is airsoft?  Looks real.

Get a romanian dong lower hand guard, on the ak.  To make it correct it would also have a wire side folding stock.

Yeah man, airsoft... Fortunately, I'm in the privileged position to be appointed the Editor of the biggest (and only printed) airsoft publication in the UK... It's great because I can kinda justify buying some expensive toys! :) I'd love to own some real guns one day. My girlfriend took me to Prague a couple months back to shoot some stuff... Fired an AR and an AK amongst other stuff, which was awesome.

That AK should've run me about £700-800 but I got a good deal on it. I'd like to put a wire stock on it, since I want a CQB gun... It's just a matter of getting round to it! I'd like a real steel one, but they are hella hard to get here... If you know how I could get one, I'd love to hear about it.

Moshrides, what is your budget? I highly suggest a 1911 over a DE.

BEN, all those look pretty damn cool! Can't even tell they are airsoft.

I am going to be buying a pistol in January and I am kinda torn between 2.

It will either be a Desert eagle 50AE

Or a 1911.

What are good 1911 company's? Obviously colt is one. I did find a colt 1911 legit for sale. It's used and selling for $700. What about spring field? or Taurus? I found a 1911 Taurus for sale for $650 new. Not sure if I like the look though.

Thanks.

Go to a range and shoot a few guns before you buy one.  Shoot a revolver, shoot a 1911, shoot a Desert Eagle, (most ranges around here rent them because people want to try them) shoot a .22, 9mm, .40, .45 etc.

In my opinion Springfield Armory is the BEST* route for a 1911 because of the customer service and warranty.

*=unless you have some knowledge/aptitude in mechanics of firearms, then the best 1911 ever is a series 70 colt.  The series 80 has some bs safety in it and proprietary parts.

Taurus is hit or miss, you might get a good one or you might get a lemon.  Customer service is in Florida, while they are made in Brazil by Taurus.

S.A. is also made in Brazil by a very reputable* firearms manufacturer, then sold out of good old ILLINOIS.

Really though don't get a desert eagle.

*= IMBEL, they also make the best FALs in the world next to Belgium made ones.

Agreed.  Figure out what your budget is and then do what Birdmane suggested and go rent whatever you can get your hands on.

Springfield Armory Range Officer is the best deal hands down.

Yeah that was going to be one of my suggestions as well.  It's an excellent 1911 for the price.

Are you having work done on it?  I've always wondered if they would show me around if I just showed up.

OP, you could kill two birds with one stone and get one of the newish Desert Eagle 1911's...

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It helped me decide on a 1911.

A DE would be something to just have. Would suck to buy and pay to shoot.

My budget for now is set at $1400. If I get a decent job it might rise. I will go and take a look at some other 1911's tomorrow to see what I can choose from there. I would order one, but it would be so much easier to just pick on up in town. I would love a 1911 from Ed brown, But that is a little pricy for now.

I will maybe get a picture of that used colt 1911 they are selling. I didn't look to hard at it. It might be worth it.

Thanks again

Ed Brown's are nice, but having built my 1911 with all Ed Brown parts, I wish I would have gone EGW. Nothing wrong with EB but I like the fit and finish a lot more with the EGW parts. Wilson Combat is also real nice, but above the budget.

Take a look around 1911pro.com and http://forums.1911forum.com/

$1400 are you kidding me?

Buy a springfield armory for $1000 and spend the rest on ammo.

Benefits of working at a gun store:

I had a great day today, a customer came in with a Bushmaster Co-witness carbine he had purchased a few weeks prior.  His wife was mad at him for buying it and he had never even shot it, or cycled it.  No mars/marks on the hammer face from cycling!

He was trying to sell it back to our used department, but we just bought a collection of 30 AR15 variants, so they refused to purchase it.  On the way out I was chatting with the guy and he said he wanted the gun gone today, with 200 round of 5.56 and 2 magazines.

Well I offered him $350 and he took it, steal/deal of a lifetime on a $1000 AR15.
