The Bike Shop / Re: finally new powerbites.
« on: October 16, 2014, 01:32:21 PM »
I had a friend who got the powerbite without inserts when they came like that. Paid the equivalent to $350 for them (american parts were super expensive in Sweden back in the day). Then ran them reverse as he also had bought a LSD hub. They stripped after 20 min. Never facepalmed so hard...

he drilled a bigger bore through the arms and bolted on two big bolts with threads and ran them for 2 more years.

Cool idea with the bolt. Wonder if its Deep enough so that the fit is similar to a socket wrench.

Why is it that cranks are going back to the splined 3-piece design? I thought that 2-piece was the new standard. Seems like 24mm cranks are all 3-piece.

The Bike Shop / Re: Mid school "collecting"

I dont like mid-school stuff. I can understand why people would like to build them up as a hobby, but riding wise I feel like bikes were worse back then.

I change my bike up quite a lot now, but prefer stuff from or made like 5-7 years ago.

Thanks guys. But Im more wondering about things I should consider that I havent thought of. Like weight, I will probably knock weight off as a not so important factor, but I am afraif that it will get annoying after riding with it for a full session. Whats your thoughts?

The Bike Shop / Full-face helmets
« on: October 07, 2014, 09:54:32 AM »
I've realised that I almost exclusively ride large bowls and vert now. This has made me reconsider my preferred safety gear, as I previously only rode padless and with a standard "dirt-style" bmx helmet. I am considering getting a full-face helmet now, but am unsure of what to look for. I have so far mostly been looking for design and price, but perhaps its more to it.
Are any of you guys riding one, or have experience with them? Any experience and tip?
How heavily should weight of the helmet play as a parameter, is it tiring in the long run or barely noticable?

You mean a wishbone versus A-frame style?
Yes. BGing at work limits my brainpower. Sorry.

Is there actually a structural benefit of that TT/CS junction design?

Didnt odyssey make 12t one piece for their first cassettes?

I had a friend that welded a 12 t cog on a cassette driver in the day, thus making it one piece. is there technically and advantages to one piece anyway? ease of operation and lightness perhaps. Just get a standard cassette driver if you can find one.

I love large pedals. If this is larger than the twisted it will be my next pedal

I too am curious about the hub. I initially threw it off as another "KHE-clone" but if this one actually packs something new, which wouldnt surprise me as G has swung his magic wand towards it.

I would gladly be put corrected for thinking its a "copy".

Found it in a shop London for £1500. Perfect condition and with all filters and case. Too good to pass on.

Jens, the ad is mine, I had the cash but couldnt completely justify keeping it for myself. So I put up an ad to see if I would get anyone interest and perhaps make a small profit off it, so far nothing.
