This is a DIY spot that skaters built in the hood of Detroit. Rumor has it that its going to at least double in size from what it currently is and there will be a snake run that will go through 2 abandoned houses that back up to the park.
Sorry for the shitty iPhone photos, plus it was really sunny today but you get the idea.

THREE PICS

I put my hands up.

someone who knows how to code things should make a world map of spots- users can take a photo on phone or whatever with location settings/gps coordinates embedded. upload them and everyone has a handy map of every city with pictures of spots for when they visit.

That already exists, someone on here posted it the other day.

A former Dutch start-up company called newbreeders had a pretty good working map. You could post clips and photos with every spot, opt to choose either park / street / water / etc. spots. Everything was laid over google maps. Could also give yourself a location thus could also form some sort of couchsurfing type-a-deal for bikers / skaters. Later on Transworld took it over (bought it) but the it kinda disappeared in a black hole. Somehow I think that - however good this idea might sound - there just is not a market for it. Maybe in another couple of years the time is right.

The Bike Shop / Quick Questions

Roadie question:

About 'Problem solvers' (axle nuts). What is with the different sizes? 9 / 10 mm? Then on various websites nuts some are called rear and some are called front?

I got some 10mm x 1mm (what does the 1 mm even stand for?) nuts and they don't fit on either my front axle (goes completely over it) and on the rear (does thread on, but wiggles way too much, too much space, would probably shear thread of if I tighten it...)

Any ideas? Can't find any real info on this anywhere.

Not by me by any means. We talked about it and weren't sure. We could ride up the slanted wall, do a quick 180 and then ride down the slanted wall like four times in a row, pedalling madly at the bottom. That was insanely tiresome and brought us to maybe the height of the concrete part in the middle of the slanted wall at the right. If you have super condition you might make it...

The problem is you can only ride almost straight up. The whole thing is made up of 6 segments with footwide peg-height channels in between (filled with water in the middle too). Each thing is 4 to 5 feet wide, except for the most front on which is 7 feet wide. I don't know whether, if you could get enough speed, you could change that energy into height instead of just slamming into the wall. A little concrete in the corner would definitely do the trick though.

New spot, rode it for the first time today. Will get flooded after the whole building area is finished but let's just hope that takes a while...

I guess so. Just to clear things up, I didn't make this, neither do I know exactly where it is. Just know the dudes who made it. It does indeed look awesome and I'd love to ride it one day haha.
