Have no idea whether that occurred in this situation but you can be sure as shit I'd be annoyed with bankrolling someone's business until they get around to producing it on a retail product.i didn't order anything custom, just a headset cap right off the site, and was charged immediately. I just wanted some communication. I'll wait for some quality American parts.
Putting down a deposit on custom or one-off work is whole different thing.

I remember back in 08 with nightriders, v-club, and half the mutiny team living in Fort Worth, a shop would have done great.i remember the glory days...it's not bad these days, private trails! Also I live about an 8 minute bike ride from the magnolia area, come party! I live with mat Olson, and we are about 15 minutes from the trails.
I wouldn't even know what to do with a shop on Magnolia Street besides hang out at the Chatroom and smash hipster broads.

There's two commuter specific shops just in downtown, but downtown Fort Worth is turning itself into Dallas, it's all super uppity frat looking people driving around in beamers and Porsches. I've immersed myself in Fort Worth scene for years, and I'm telling you any sort of bike shop will fail right now.
