The Bike Shop / What did you do to your bike today? (v2)
« on: September 13, 2011, 09:26:34 PM »
Picked my stem up from the bike shop while waiting for the other things just so I could ride it around.  Got bored and went to the local bmx track but it was in horrible shape because it's off season and all the storms we've had.  Still had a blast just cruising and pumping around.  There was a cute 30-something year old there riding her mountain bike, was "really interested in bmx, I want to start riding but need someone to help me."  Let her cruise my bike around the track, got the digits.  I'm leaving town in a week but I'm going to try and hook it up at least once.

edit: got bored just going around since it was so rough and started hipping that first asphalt berm into the grass.  It was super sketchy without brakes, for me at least, never rode brakeless.

Got a tube, put a ruben tire on, put the chain on, put a rear peg on, and now I'm just waiting for my forks, stem, and brakes to come into my local shop.  Had a moment of freaking out because I was sure the rear end of my new steadfast was twisted, rear wheel was sitting all jacked up, really off center.  Then I realized that there was just an extra spacer sitting against the cone nut throwing it off.  It's been storming like crazy every day here so I guess it's ok that my parts aren't in yet.  Just seeing my new bike half built is driving me crazy though.

I've got this but mainly just take it fishing.  It's great because I've wanted a leatherman with a pocket clip forever.  So it's got needlenose pliers, screwdriver with 2 flat and 2 philips head bits, carabiner/bottle opener, and a small locking blade.  I'd definitely get another if I ever lost this one.

What handguns do you have?

Where in CA?

San Diego and right now I've got a few but only want to bring my S&W .357 revolver and this little North American Arms .22 mag gutbuster.  Plus the shotgun if I end up getting one.  I just figure it would be less red tape here in VA.  The rest of my pistols I'll just leave with my parents

Suggestions for a cheap home defense shotgun?  I know it won't be ideal but I'm guessing I could still go blast some skeet every now and then with it right?  Changing the choke up maybe?  Not really that well versed with shotguns.

Also, theres a chance I might be moving to California.  I've got pistols and am planning on buying the shotgun.  Anything I need to know?  Do I have to register the guns or anything like that?  I don't conceal carry or anything so that won't be an issue.

Thanks dudes.

I agree.

but definitely fun to shoot and its dirt ass cheap.  Thats the major advantage of getting anything .22lr in my opinion.  You can go shooting all day for like 10 bucks.  Whereas taking out your .45 will cost you out the ass for all day shooting.

Do you mean just plinking around?

If a gun is accurate enough for decent target shooting it is plenty for home/self defense.  For example the target I just posted is roughly 8" across, plenty accurate to keep it on an intruder's torso.

yeah, the statement didnt follow.  I meant its accurate enough for plinking around but a .22 is not any good for home defense, not related to accuracy like that made it seem.
