Just on the subject of hospital waste, I work in the ER and 100% of everything we use is disposable except for tooth extraction trays, chest tube insertion trays, the "blades" you use to intubate people, and the actual drill for putting IVs into bone (everything used except the actual drill is disposable).  Every scalpel, every pair of tweezers, forceps, wound stapler, blood pressure cuff, oxygen sensor, etc to infinity is disposable.  Even the pillows we have are one time use.  I've got no clue how it can be cheaper to throw everything away than to clean and reuse it.

I knock on wood. I know it does nothing, I'm not superstitious, but I always do it. Three little taps.
In the same vein, at work you don't say "quiet" or "slow". You'll get death stares. People also don't say the names of frequent flyer patients, like saying their name will bring them in.

I have no idea who I'd vote for next year. The GOP candidates are fucking morons and Clinton is a crooked bitch.

I feel the same way.  Hillary is more of the same in the worse sense of the phrase.  I don't like these political dynasties, they're all so tied into the corporate side, the money, backroom deals, etc.  I can't think of one thing Hillary has done in recent times that went against the grain or made me think she's anything more than another puppet.

Hank, if that 4Runner checks out clean, you won't be disappointed. A friend of mine bought one as a winter beater, and ended up liking it so much he dumped some money into it to get it into tip top shape and now daily drives it

I wanted one when I bought the Xterra 4 years ago but I got it for such a good price with only 58k on the odo, I couldn't pass it up.  I do think I'm going to test drive an FJ just to see if I like it significantly more.  I don't think I'll be doing that much off-roading but they have the rear diff lock and the 4runner doesn't.

Is it ever worth it converting a truck to 4x4 vs just getting a different vehicle?  I got an '02 Xterra RWD, moving to Denver and need/want 4x4. I've got only 9l on it and just did the timing belt/water pump/all other belts. I love the truck so is it worthwhile?

Usually, no. Unless you have access to dirt cheap parts, lots of skilled labor, time, and a good space to do the work.

Only sometimes. For your situation probably not. Unless you want to somehow throw a divorced t-case and a small solid axle up front then it would be kind of cool. Or try to go about converting it using stock parts which would most likely cost you more than if you sold the rwd and got into a 4x4..

A ghetto solid axle swap is pretty much the worst way to go about it though.

The only worthwhile way on an Xterra would be to find a donor 4x4 rig that's a similar year and swap everything over.

Yeah, after talking to a couple shops, the only reasonable way would be finding a donor and 4x4 xterrras aren't very common here. Taking an 06 4Runner to my mechanic tomorrow for an inspection.  If it checks out I'm getting it.

After ordering from them for years upon years, went to Empire for the first time yesterday. Bought some swag and washers for my cranks to get the BMX back together. Put the cranks back on, got it all tuned up, and sold it right after. First time without a BMX in like 12 years but it wasn't being ridden and I don't have room to keep it really. Trying to buy the lady a MTB so we can shred together. RIP BMX.

I'm basically looking to get an inexpensive bike to ride mostly off road. The local trails are pretty tame so I'm leaning more towards a CX bike rather than Mtb, plus most parts would be interchangeable with my road bike.
They have a CX with shimano 105 all around that's within my budget and it caught my eye.

As long as the components and wheels are good, I don't see why not. Ride it into the ground for 6-12 months while saving for a better frame/fork. I basically did the same with an older high end specialized. Really nice components on a 52cm frame (I'm 6 foot) for cheap so I copped it, commuted on it for about 8 months, then bought a Surly frameset. It's still my commuter and still going strong.

Really dumb but there's this line in ECD 3 where a guy yells I bought milk!  My friends and I used to yell it at each other (I was about 17 at the time).  Anyways, I had this terrible job waiting table's for an El Salvadoran who owned an Italian restaurant. Money was shit, he was an asshole,  etc. One of my friends had already quit in spectacular fashion after one shift washing dishes.
Anyways school was about to start back up and I already knew I was leaving so one night during dinner service he was being a real dick so I just pulled off my apron, threw it on the ground, and yelled I BOUGHT MILK at him and peaced out. His grasp of English was minimal at best so I still can't imagine what he thought had happened. There were only 2 table's in there but I'd love to have seen their reactions. He called my house for about two months offering me shifts after being repeatedly told I had another job.

Post that youre looking in STORM and Alamo Bike bay on facebook. There seems to be tons of older dudes selling their old bikes for the latest and greatest. Most of them don't look very harshly ridden. I'm hopefully about to pick up a hardtail for silly cheap if it fits my fiance.

So if no one is running them, why aren't they free? You make it sound like there should be an abundance. If they're only needing mounts for 25% of the frames vs 100% previously it seems shitty to charge a jacked up price so you can have a fucking brake on your bike.
