This is definitely the best thread on BG.

Thanks Rick James and Dan for your opinions.  Think I'm going with the Troy BUIS.

Hey dudes.  Seeking advice.

In preparation for a possible optics setup I want to go ahead and get rid of my carry handle (BOUNCEHOUSE420, still interested?) and get a folding rear sight.  I have a standard front fixed sight. See here.

After a bit of reading I am leaning toward this Troy piece.

Any opinions or other recommendations?

Thanks for the info bruh.  I am in fact interested in checking out the drawings for a milled receiver as opposed to the flats.  Trying to get a feel for the complexity of the piece.  For now Im just trying to gather projects for when things slow down and I can hopefully get a free machine to learn on and make some shit here at work.

I hear ya on that.  If I had an AK it would be less about accuracy and more about reliability, including shooting whatever ammo I could find.

As of now I save my brass for future reloading or reselling.  That's the main reason I buy nice stuff.

7.62 x 51 (7.62 NATO).  See quote:

Although id love to have x51 cost near 5.56!

My $.53/rnd price is what I paid for a bunch a few years ago and still have.  I only buy quality ammo with nice brass and boxed primers.

One of the main reasons I bought an AR.  Ammo costs me around $.40/rnd vs $.53/rnd for 7.62.

As for the AK, does anyone mill their own receivers?  Are there any drawings floating around so an individual could machine one? (I don't know shit about AKs)

Well, a good deal fell into my lap so I finally picked up an AR from a friend of a friend.  Like new, only 60 rounds through it before I hit the range last Sunday.  Parts:

RRA CAR A4 upper
Essential Arms lower
RRA two stage trigger kit
RRA buttstock
RRA tactical carry handle
Troy Ind quad rail
1 Pmag and 1 GI mag

I am thinking about getting rid of the "carry handle" and going with an optic and BUIS.  Really leaning toward the Super Sniper 1-4 x 24.  Any advice or recommendations?

I'm new to guns so this is only the beginning...like I need another expensive hobby :bustin:

It can get VERY expensive. Not just guns but ammo too. The good thing is guns hold their value fairly well.

*Just realized you're the dude that had the lifted toyota.  I guess you do know about expensive hobbies.
