Man, get off this 'my right' thing.

Your argument is identical to why they wanted to own slaves.

Identical.

'Well, it's my right! It's in the Constitution!'

No, it's not.

Keep trying.

Well, to be fair to the citizens they should have just outlawed murder and gang activity instead of stripping the people's rights.

Oh yeah, Handguns are illegal within chicago city limits.  That doesn't mean people can't hop on a train to the burbs and pick one up.

Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?  So now only the law-abiding citizens are wandering about unprotected and the criminals know it.

Should I mention these are Democrat policies and Obama bred his political career in Chicago?  Pretty sweet.

I dream of owning a .50 too.  If only it didn't cost over $3/round to shoot it. :o

hear, hear  *raises pint of beer*

If the media reported more of the incidents where a firearm was used in self defense instead of concentrating on and exaggerating the criminal uses of a firearm, thieves might be less inclined to rob and vandalize others person and property.

As for CA's self defence laws, you better check in to them.  They vary greatly from state to state.

couch, you are right on with what you are saying.  Pulling a firearm should be the LAST resort.

As you can read in the news piece, the pizza guy tried running from his aggressors and only pulled his weapon when he felt he couldn't do anymore to avoid the situation.

On a side note, this is entertaining.  No matter what happens, someone will always make excuses.

california gun laws are weird

They don't have to make sense to get passed.  Some will take whatever they can get, piece by piece.

stag, both guns are very similar.  The advantages of the XDM are the larger capacity and customizable grip..  My friend also made a comment that the M holster is better than the one that came with his standard XD.  Basically, if you are comparing the regular size XD and an XDM, get the XDM if you can afford the few extra dollars.

Again, one can't go wrong with either the .40 or 9mm.  Price is the deciding factor for most people.  For reference, I pay about 26-28 cents a round for .40 target ammo.  I also save my brass which will hopefully help me offset costs through reloading later on.

prpl ppl eater, I think it's just you.

couch, like street said, pick up the guns and see how they feel in your hands.  I noticed a huge difference between a friend's Glock and my XDM this weekend.  A bunch of shooting ranges offer rental guns to try out.  See if you can do something like that and find one you feel comfortable with.

As for caliber, I'd stick to 9mm, .40, or .45.  None of them have overpowering recoil and all are effective.

Cheap ammo makes me feel good when I'm handing money over, but it makes me feel sick at the range.

Nice shooting.  I blast nothing but cheap handgun ammo at the range as well.  Winchester white box and Blazer Brass mostly.  My nice hollow points won't get shot at the range until I can find some more to stockpile.

Loving it so far.  I've probably run about 800 rounds through it with no problems.  I need to work on my trigger pull though(see target in signature).
