The Bike Shop / Re: Broke my Fly cranks. Need new crank suggestions
« on: July 08, 2015, 07:22:24 AM »
check Dan's for blemished cranks (discounted)
also it wouldn't hurt to email fly and ask to purchase a crash replacement on a new/new-old stock set of cranks if you are trying to save $$

otherwise go for odyssey's. Mine are rock solid.

The Bike Shop / Re: Larger bars with 5 to 6 degrees of upsweep?

Are you sure you don't need less upsweep? If you're feeling all that pressure on the outside of your wrists, going down to a 1 degree upsweep might be what your wrists are telling you.

The Bike Shop / Re: What's the status on new Odyssey products?

I wish Odyssey would make flatware stuff again

They are still doing the forks, tires, and cranks. Now you can add freecoaster hubs to the mix! but yeah no more frames, grips or front hubs.

I've put in over 250 miles on my Taj since last summer.  Super fun bike.  I've jumped our box jump on it, gone on 15+ mile rides, rode one on a vert ramp at TX Toast a few years back...  Just an overall super fun bike.  My buddy rode mine and ended up buying one for himself because he was that stoked on it.

Ah looks like fun. I'd even consider getting one of those for a commute!!!

We've totally changed our grip manufacturer and the compounds we use so they should be a lot better than they were a few years ago.

:)
G.

Ah excellent, thank you G, good to know!!!
Will definitely be checking out the new Broc grip then!

I really liked the adam banton grips, and the aaron ross grips as well. I have odi right now and no complaints. the tom dugan grip is really nice too. I got free merritt grips but didn't like them that much.

Ah right on brotha! Yeah the tom dugan grip feels good. not sure if i like odsy's compound tho. maybe i just need to get one of theirs next

I wanna try and get some of the hoder grips. The sunday ones dont seem too bad.

The hoder's are where it's at if you like a thicker feeling yet semi squishy grip (32mm diam). The sundays looked to be a little too thin for me (alternating 29/30 diam according to Dan's).

I'm gonna get a pic on here for yall to see...

i cant bring my self to get rid of ODI's. After the 4 years i've been riding them  i have only had to buy 3 pairs , fucking perfect , little sharp at first tho

yes the regular compound can be. I found my reg compound odi's to be more comfortable if i trimmed the length and then stretched them on the bar versus trying to squish down a longer length on the same bar.

No flange grips make me feel like she's got the clap but is also the only one out there so I guess I have to.

Threw on some Hoders few weeks ago. Pretty stoked on them. Can't say much about the Brocs besides Par Ends are sweet.

Right there with ya Rusty! Dare I say they are the best feeling grips ever? Thick diameter feels good on bigger hands. And yep pulled some pretty easy feeling hop whips. Couldn't be happier with them. Still running my old par ends tho. Oh yeah and no signs of wear after 1 good session.

I need flanges.

I'd like the soft compound long necks with flanges. I've never seen them for sale anywhere.

Ah right on, yeah i don't think they make em. the soft compound feels great and retains some degree of grip even if they're wet

Just stopped by Empire today looking for replacements to my ripped soft compound odi's.

the new hoder's looked legit and have a 32mm diam. Ended up picking them over the odsy broc's. The hoder's are made in USA by Odi but the odsy's include par ends. Both are about 160mm length and equally soft.

Which would you have picked? or are you happy with another grip (flangeless or not)

The Bike Shop / Re: Keychain woes?
« on: May 31, 2015, 11:31:33 AM »
I used the chain braker that odyssey made for it and it bent so I had to use my shadow one and the shadow breaker worked way better. Ps The keychain is the best chain I've ever used my drivetrain is so smooth.

Agreed! Mine has been completely smooth and headache free for the past year!!!
