Actual rep numbers for BG.

Approximate numbers. I will move them at random to slip people up.
Bragging about hitting it will definitely get it moved just out of your reach.

Second post in this thread, quote didn't include the chart..... Are these still the current requirements? I'm trying to calculate how much rep power I have if I had the 2,500 post minimum.... Is there anyway to tell when the requirements have been modified?

Thats exactly what I'm saying. "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."

I fail to see the problem with legally owning a gun. With the proper background check and the ten day waiting period it is very unlikely some nutjob is going to go thru the process of doing all that just to start trouble. Of course it is possible, but with the amount of registered gun owners.... its a very very small percentage of people with bad intent.

I'm surprised they haven't banned automobile use yet. I mean, people run from the cops in them right? People hit people while driving, people drive drunk, the list goes on and on and on. A gun is a tool, just like a hammer, just like a screwdriver, just like a kitchen knife. If it falls into the wrong hands shit will hit the fan. When used properly, whether it be for home defense, self defense, hunting, target shooting, sport, whatever it is fine. I don't care about "rights" or the constitution. Its more about reason and responsibility. If you're a hack, you shouldn't have a gun. If you're a solid dude with any legit reason to own one and you pass the state requirements, whats the problem?

G27 w/Brooks Tactical Agrip.

I just got the Agrip, Pearce +0 mag extension, and grip plug in the mail today. More motivation to get the actual gun. I have a bs warrant from a ticket I got over a year ago for not having bike lights on my bike even though I did. I was told it was dismissed... It wasn't so I got a FTA. As soon as this is handled I'm buying the gun.

couch, you are right on with what you are saying.  Pulling a firearm should be the LAST resort.

Most definitely. It would absolutely never even be pulled out unless I was sure about shooting whoever is on the offense. Pulling it out and not feeling confident enough to use it as intended is like bending over and dropping your pants. You're just asking to get fucked even worse. All its going to do is make the situation worse unless you know 100% the other person is going to back down. In California, from what I've read, there must be a warning shot first! I need to look further into this and see if this is just inside the home or what. I doubnt theres any way they can prove if I shot the perp or the wall first... Stop the problem, shoot the wall, thats the way I see it. If someone is stupid enough to break into a home, they have to at least be smart enough to know they might not come back out.

I don't think guns are a good threat. As wheelr stated, they are an absolute last resort. I need to get a link of my lapd hate thread up in here to help show my side. When the dude was banging on my front door for a half hour nonstop with a bandana/hood over his face in the middle of the night when I lived with my ex in Los Angeles, I wish I had a gun. I just so happen to know where my neighbor across the hall's bed is located so I wouldnt have been affraid of it going thru my door, thru him, thru the neighbors door/wall and hitting him, unless he was up that late. He never is... I was fully aware of the surroundings and if I had a gun at that time things could have easily gotten ugly. A simple note slipped under the door as a warning... if it didn't stop and that handle didn't stop turning back and forth he would have went right down. Over the past year I have lost a lot of respect for people in general. This doesnt mean I think someones life is less important, but I tend to care less and less about others that are leading shitty lives as time goes on.

I'll happily stop on the side of the road to help someone push their car or change a flat. Open doors, give money to strangers in need, all of that not only makes me feel good about myself (selfish I know), but it rubs off on others. Hopefully one day they will think of that and do something nice for someone else, and so on and so on. The minute someone decides to fuck with me though when I have done nothing wrong, I don't care one bit about them. If someone is banging on my door trying to get inside my apartment in the middle of the night and my girl is hiding in fear of whats on the other side, I will not hesitate to make you pay if I am able. Look for a fight and you'll get one is all I'm saying. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Living in DTLA I had more shitty situations happen, non bike related (see lapd hate thread). Riding in Orange County I've had way more problems.

I wish it wasn't so difficult to get a CCW in California. I live in Orange, which is a pretty nice area. Not rich or anything like that, just old. Its an "Old Towne" so its quiet. However just South of me there are some really shitty areas. Riding (road) at night I tend to run into some shitty situations. Most are usually avoidable but all are not. I've narrowed all my choices down to a Glock 27. Its a subcompact .40S&W. It would fit perfect in my hip bag that I ride with. Right now I carry a knife and a lock. The lock has been used many times to either defend myself or teach lessons to pieces of shit that think its funny to throw full beer cans at me or swerve WAY too close while I'm in the bike lane. Just last night  two college bitches decided it would be a great idea to make a left turn right in front of us from the opposite direction into a driveway that was coming up to us on the right side. The driver rolls the window down, points and laughs then slams on the brakes halfway into the driveway. The passenger door was in the bikelane and they were stopped. Bye bye tail light. Thanks Kryptonite! You saved the day yet again. I dont think the girls were laughing much longer after that. I ate ice cream shortly after.

Now I'm not saying these girls deserved a bullet but there are situations where people have stopped their cars, gotten out and tried to take us off the bikes in hopes of stealing them. I've had people jump into the street between parked cars and try to grab us, bottles thrown at us from cars (both moving and parked) and houses. I don't think this is just to get a simple laugh half of the time. It seems like most of the time there are other intentions. I don't want to find out what those are. One reason most of this doesn't get too carried away sometimes is because the number of people that are in the group. Again, I'm not saying any of these people deserve to get shot.... but if things were to not go so smooth and one of us went down, things could very easily elevate. My little pocket knife and lock can't reach very far. I am not one to look for a fight, but I am more than willing to defend myself if the time comes. I want to be able to handle 95% of the situations I may encounter. A nice little pocket carry would be more than enough to achieve this. I want to be able to ride my bike alone at any time and not feel like I won't be able to handle myself if I get jumped.

Couch This is a great place where can rent handguns to try out. They have quite a few different guns you can try out, Glock, Kimber, Taurus, H&K, Ruger, S&W, Springfield, Para Ordnance, and more. Who knows you might end up wanting a 1911.

I called them a few days ago about their training class they offer on Saturdays in Huntington from 9am-noon. Its $75 for the session plus ammo/targets/etc... comes out to about $90. I'm contemplating it. If I don't work this coming Saturday I may go. I'm not quite sure how many different guns I would be able to shoot if I went that route.

Fuck, I need to get my gun already. Semi-auto handgun is where its at. Eventually I'l get a dialed revolver. For now I want something I can dump some big rounds fast!

For say a compact Glock, how big could I go in caliber before I start destroying my hands/arms from firing it? I don't want to feel like I'm slamming my hands in a door every time I shoot it but I also dont want to regret getting something too small.

It will mainly be for home defense and target shooting. Hunting would be dope but I'd rather use a revolver for that.

See LAPD hate thread for the shit I deal with at home...

Oh, and Hank, change your damn avatar to one where D-Fense is holding the bag of guns, not the briefcase with the apple and sandwich.

Falling Down FTMFW!!! I used to live right up the street from the park he dumped the briefcase at. Wild shit goes down there all the time. Bodies being pulled from the water daily.

Recommended caliber...?

I'm not a big guy, but I want something somewhat powerful that is still fun to shoot and manageable. I highly doubt I will use it alllll the time but I do want to be comfortable with it and have it be almost second nature to load it, and use it as necessary if the time comes. It will be more of a hobby type deal rather than hunting all the time. So if it feels like I'm slamming my hand in a door every time I shoot it it isnt a huge deal. As of right now I'm looking at the Taurus Tracker .44 Mag and a Glock 26 (9mm)as a backup. I also dont want rounds that arte tooo expensive if there is something cheaper and more fun to shoot. So basically something for home defense that is reliable (Glock) and/or something that is just a mean looking fun gun to shoot every now and again (Taurus). Would these calibers be ideal? should I go smaller/bigger...? I won't be shooting buffalo but I also dont want to have buyers remorse and wish I got something larger.
