Depends on what you're looking for and where you're buying it. Box of 20 rounds for me in .40S&W Federal Hydra Shok Hollow Points is about a buck a round, $20 for a box give or take a buck.

Box of 50 rounds non hollow points is also around $20.

Local range ammo is $14 for 50 rounds, but some of it is reloaded and random cases.

Brick of 500 rounds for my 10/22 ranges from $20-$35

Since I don't have all that many tools at my apartment and I'm excited to get this frame finished, I broke out the files and sandpaper this evening and spent a good few hours blending the unmachined surfaces. After filing I used 600 sandpaper to clean things up then took some 1200 sandpaper and soapy water to the entire thing. I still need to polish out some file marks and do a little more blending but for the most part the front end is nearly complete. I'll for sure have to polish everything once all the cutting is finished but I got a pretty good head start.

FINALLY picked up a 1911 stainless casting. Most of the holes are finished, its already ground to size. This investment casting is NICE! Minor filing and its coming together. I fit the trigger & the magazine last night. I need to bore out one hole for the mag release and that will drop in.

From the looks of it I need to cut the slides, open up the main spring housing and cut the grooves for that, tap the grip bushing holes (od size and EXPENSIVE tap from Midway/Brownells, may order a couple custom coated taps for this), cut the tangs for a beaver tail grip safety, drill the ejector location holes, the holes for the plunger tube and that's about it!

I surface ground and radius'd my 10/22 bolt today. Only had to take off a few tenths per side to clean it all up. I only did the faces that contact the trigger housing and receiver. I'm going to engrave the side then polish it all up.

Gun show this weekend!!! I want to pick up a Kidd Charging Handle in silver, and possibly a trigger assembly. I'll also be looking for a 1911 steel forging or casting. I need to finish this damn 1911!

I'm not looking specifically for a sharp, just saying yeah, 55 is cheap as shit! but after shipping, FFL fees, DROS and whatever my local shops upcharge on doing that for parts they have in stock, I'll end up spending more than if I were to buy one they already have even if its a different make.

Some shops charge 75 bucks or so if they are used to buy something from somewhere else that they keep in stock. Hope that made some sense.

I'm going to get with a ton of fees if I order one of those rguns lowers. I want one though! It might be cheaper to buy a more expensive one from a local shop that already has them in stock.

How big is it? Theres no indication of scale, looks like its been hit with a tank round.

Its about six inches tall. That was with my .22 at 125 yards.
