Could have been a detective or a Fed.  It's pretty common for them to carry a BUG on their ankle.

Yeah.  The real Magpul lowers sell for a ton of money if you can find someone willing to part with theirs.

I sold my ak pistol today....sad day.

But my ruski sks is fine.  Got an R guns upper with melanite/fail zero coated EVERYTHING. (sp?)

Those R Guns upper/lowers are pretty interesting.  Are you going to go all out and get a Fail Zero BCG and LPK?

The longer sight radius is definitely an advantage if you plan on running irons the vast majority of the time.  I agree on the rifle-length MOE guards. Those are the only ones I actually like the look of.

It's a cool concept and I like the way they look but there's not much of a point to it if you're going to run optics.

This SOPMOD Block II clone is my ideal rifle.  If only I could afford it.

I need to go some time soon since I haven't been in a little while.  I've been debating buying this upper for a bit now but I just can't bring myself to do it for some reason.  Spikes Tactical 14.5" Elite CHF Vortex 5.56.

That ACOG should be pretty sweet too.  I'd definitely love to have one if/when I get an AR.

I probably would as well.  M&P's aren't very expensive as it is so I'd just start setting money aside for one.

I've never handled the M&P 40 3.5" but the full size one I shot was pretty nice.  I do own a 4.5" M&P .45 though and it's been a great gun.

Rick, please go to SA and tell them to hurry up with my Loaded M1A.

Are you having work done on it?  I've always wondered if they would show me around if I just showed up.

OP, you could kill two birds with one stone and get one of the newish Desert Eagle 1911's...

Springfield Armory Range Officer is the best deal hands down.

Yeah that was going to be one of my suggestions as well.  It's an excellent 1911 for the price.

Moshrides, what is your budget? I highly suggest a 1911 over a DE.

Agreed.  Figure out what your budget is and then do what Birdmane suggested and go rent whatever you can get your hands on.

I get the feeling that Magpul is the Odyssey of the AR world. Great products, tons of R&D but people still seem to hate on them and call people "fan boys". Is it just me or is that really how it is?

I'd say the Odyssey comparison is a fairly accurate statement.  I've never seen anyone hate on them though, quite the opposite actually.  They tend to be one of the first names thrown out when someone is looking for a new piece of kit for their rifle.

One of the main reasons I prefer the SOPMOD is because LMT is 5 minutes down the road from me.  Gotta support the local guys when they are doing shit right!

The thing about Magpul is you see a lot of guys completely decking their rifles with every component available, and then plinking with them in a field. It's like a kid who buys a complete bike to cruise down the sidewalk, and then proceeds to spend $1k on every Odyssey part available but still just cruises down the sidewalk.

There's a lot of truth in this too.  I can't fault the company for that though since most of the products they do make are legit.

Good components right there...

I still stand by a SOPMOD stock for a carbine and an A2 stock for a precision AR.  I like the simplicity of them.

I agree.  Nothing wrong with the Magpul pieces though.
