The Bike Shop / Re: Brakes
« on: May 16, 2015, 03:50:34 PM »
I think it comes down to brake mount placement. I have Eclat brakes and can clear a 2.4 tire no problem, and havent had an issue with any other brakes.

I was running into this issue last night when buying my new wheelset, Last wheel set I bought I didn't have to worry about it since it was a set of primos, which the N4FL is probably one of the best hubs/hubguards I've ever ran in my life.

Ended up picking up a set of profile hubs with all profile guards, I really wish they were chromoly and I wish they made a rear hubguard that works with bolt on hubs and not just 14mm threaded axle ones :/
I ran a 3/8's axle on the back of a mini, along with their normal guard and a bsd one later on and they worked somehow.

Yeah what? They work fine on the female axles.

I am happy for you, I really am. We arent selling them any more due to how problematic they are.

Even after they fixed them?
My local said they were shit, then they started riding them themselves when Eclat came out saying they messed up production and sent out updatet internals.

Yep. Strangely enough, the ones that came stock on the WTP Envy completes seem to be just fine.

Can you please name some of the problems you had/saw? I really don't want to mess shit up, so I'll try to keep spare parts for the coaster in my tool bag (for example the spring thing that shit the bed on some).

Honestly, its pretty much just the springs breaking. Unfortunately, sometimes the springs break and the debris will fuck up the pawls as well.

If you take your driver out, do you see the 'thinning' of the spring over the pawls and the gaps in the driver for the LHD pawls?

Holy shit, it's been like 5 months. Are you guys looking for the one dude in the universe that has memorized the torque specs for everything or what? In all seriousness though, it kind of blows my mind that you guys are looking for a F/T BMX mechanic, but it would take quite a bit to get me to leave my current job.

Hopefully it's not the éclat bullshit since Brennan has WTP ties.

Éclat bullshit? My Blind is working better than any other coaster I've ridden (KHE and Ezra).

The Bike Shop / Re: Keychain woes?

My keychain did the same thing on a brand new deluxe sprocket. I just kept riding it, it's fine. My sprocket looks a lot less worn than yours though, but I may also just be crazy.

Uniguard turned out to be much smaller than I anticipated. I think you guys have too many stems though, the Ross stem is basically a Sexton + 3mm or so.

Can someone explain the differences between Chosen and Joytech to me? Google is no help and the driver dude... posted looks like a joytech with a thread on cog...

Yeah, they're encompassed under the 'Canadian dollar sucking' portion of my last comment, along with Standard. $654 CAD before taxes, base price. Arent you Australian though? I think you might have it worse than I do.

Between the Canadian dollar sucking,  Laird apparently not doing anything other than double diamond frames, and the closure of the welding portion of Solid, I may never get a custom frame.

The Bike Shop / Re: Odyssey Antigram vs G-Sport Simian front hub
« on: April 18, 2015, 08:58:17 AM »
The Antigram uses the same bearings that were used in the Vandero2, whereas the Simian uses the same bearings as the Marmoset. I remember quite a lot of people complaining about Vandero2 bearings, although I assume the large majority of the hubs are doing fine.

From my somewhat limited experience with Vandero 2 hubs, it wasnt the bearings that sucked so much as the axles. The shoulders would get crushed in, destroying bearings.

Switchable cassette to freecoaster. vocal is custom riders parts company, a shop that's been going since 1984 in the UK.
Not much on the workings here but it has good reviews, it just hasn't had a song and dance made about it

Pretty sure(as in, 98.9% positive) that that is an Ezra coaster with a custom shell.

Does anyone here have a Blind hub that actually works?

Yeah, I replaced the entirety of my drivetrain in order to make the chain not sound like garbage. Now it is buttery smooth, but I dont think I would describe the chain as being smoother than the BSD chain it replaced, as there are a few other factors to consider.

This. Solves all your problems

I am actually psyched for these. No, I won't be riding one, but I finally have something to sell to kids with perpetually pinched shut dropouts.
