i heard someone on here say they ground through the zipties straight away and know of other people doing the same. the mankey strap was always the best way to fit the older ones anyway so i dunno why they designed the newer ones for zipties

Might've been me, but I ground thru the strap right away. I was grinding a skatepark ledge with angle iron on it, which is the type of ledge I would want a guard for, and about midway thru the session it was hanging by a thread.

What kind of issues have you heard about with the Merritt? I've probably installed about 20 thus far, and by all accounts hey seem to be working great.

dear odyssey,

please make a hub guard out of recycled par ends.

yours,
eternity (radioactive half life, ad-infinitum, vibranium adamantium alloy, etc)

GLANDS and Par Ends are made of the same blend of materials.

:)
G.

Are you guys getting complaints about the new GLANDS at all? Ive ground through a shoelace and broke a couple zipties already. The shoelace(rear) didnt even last a session. Ive also sold a couple to other people in my area, and theyre all having the same issues.

Is there anything that stops the resistance mech from sliding off the flats towards the driver? Or are the flats long enough to prevent that?

Simple Green is an excellent cleaner that will make your brakes rock.

For like 20 minutes.

Maybe I'm missing something, what is the tool going to grab on the arm in order to pull it off? Im pretty sure my last set of Profiles came with a fancy massive bolt for excellent hammering potential.

Dont think there are threads in Profile arms. Meaning youre going to have to hammer them out anyway.

wouldn't that macneil be a bitch to lace with different spoke sizes tho?

also any pics of the tree guard? if it was so good why was it discontinued?

The photo I posted was of the Tree hub. This was the Macneil hub:

I am pretty sure the Tree hub used the same size spokes, just stepped slightly to reduce stress on the "outbound" spokes when laced inward. I could be wrong though.

The Macneil hub was a fair bit different, and ultimately kind of shitty.

Tree should bring back their original front hub. I always thought that was a cool idea, and a lot less annoying than trying to get special spokes.
