lolwut?

Idk but i wouldn't drill holes and slits in axles that need to take enormous radial loads on that exact spot.
Sure it would make installation easier but damn. I'd be scared riding them i think.

Couldn't ask for a better answer.  8)

Bottom line to me, is that the hardware that last failed me on my current hub(the axle), is stronger than the 15mm i have, and preferrably stronger than what we already had 10 years ago.

No contest, so Antigram it is.

Can't wait man. Thanks for your time and, as always, your vast knowledge G!

^wish i could answer your question. i know i have looked at a couple pairs in my days.

G, if you read this, and anybody else reading this;

Back when female was 'new' the common statement was that a 10mm female axle was 'about' as strong as a 14mm hollow axle.
Note that right now i usually the rear female inner axle is 15mm.

Sadly my female Kink hub wasn't worth shit, even though a second hand Primo Mix lasted me for years, and my Vandero also never had any problems in 3 to 4 years.
Now i'm resorting to get an Antigram- mainly because of the 17mm inner/14mm female bolts option.

Even though i don't know if it was me, or that the Kink hub was just a shitty batch, i wonder if people DO actually consider the 14mm-17mm inner axle STRONGER than 14mm male axles.

we have one in the pipeline but as mentioned BSD also look like they have one and that looks pretty much ready to buy.

:)
G.

Hope they are paying some royalties to Ody for that shit. Probably not.

But that's all i need to know. Antigram is the one for me then.

@ Badlight

Thanks for that info, going to look into that!

Before my next cassette purchase, i just need to know if a plastic Antigram hubguard is still in the works.
There were posts of Aaron Ross supposedly running one in dec. 2012?

Please make a poor man happy today G!

Coming from plastic hubguards going to alu makes zero sense in my mind, haha.
Such a smooth slide to it. Better than unprotected sex

As long as you evenly space the gap that will form between the sprocket and the crank bolt hole, you will be fine. If you don't, you'll bend your sprocket by tightening your sprocket bolt.

I do want to say, those kind of questions are why i don't understand splined vs floating axle (powerbite) style systems.

With spline, everything has to be right to make and keep shit working.
Everything comes down to millimetres. There even are half millimetre spacers in case your shit doesn't align after 2 hours, cause you need to assemble and disassemble before you even know how many spacers you'll need later.

With powerbite style axles, you can have the arm halfway on there and it might not even do real damage.

I ride Kink splined cranks now, and even though i love them, i still think splines are silly. <3 floating axles

I finally got bearings for my front hub but there's obviously something missing because it has a little side to side play.
In other news I found these high end bikes on Craigslist.

i have two sets of gold female bolts for shadow front hubs.

These;

I want to run them (pegless of course) on my female Kink Incite rearhub. It has a steel ht axle at 15mm i believe.

The original bolts have 30mm of thread.
The bolts i want to run have 20mm thread.

Will the hub be fine if i run these shorter but nicer bolts? I'm more concerned about the drive side than the non drive side, because well... the driver does nothing for the axle's integrity halfway down. But the original ones don't go that deep into the axle either.

The shorter bolt is taking about 13mm of thread. till about right under the driver's teeth.

"Let me know what you think"

No, really!

Í'm going to pick up a chrome frame today.

In 3 hours actually. On pretty much 0 hours sleep. 5 hours of BUS with 3 transfers.
Then the same 5 to 6 hours back.

On the bright side this is going to be a reaaaal pretty bike.
And i'll also have seen Rotterdam for about an hour tops  8)

Little something to get you guys salivating;

Btw the yellow should resemble gold. There will be more gold than this customizer could handle lol  :P

Took mine apart just a couple days ago.. Itching to ride already...  >:(

Best part is that it probably won't be back together for a couple weeks. The wait is the worst but the reward is a completely 120% dialed bike.. I can live with a couple weeks of not-riding.

@ Black Miguel, those trails look crazy! always good to meet the guys who built it, probably a good scene around there. That, or you found amazing abandoned trails lol.

Just got this in today.

Still have to wait for a Sunday Soundwave in black, chrome bars, a headset and bb, to match my chrome r25's.
Going to be an over the top gold setup right here. Just because i can.
First bike i'll own that has only first-owner parts. Stoked.

^^sick i can't feeble hard180 for the life of me. only if i put pegs on the left and upgrind a ledge or something. but then again feeble 3's are easy for me, i love being fuckfooted with grinds.

Tomahawk stem hand finally polished to perfection. Tomorrow i have a polishing wheel to use to get the final shine on.

'I'm gonna be SOO original'

Not really, but at least it will look good on my bike. I like being a nitpicker.

I hope this doesn't mean you broke it in one day?

Judging by the video odyssey posted about the assembly of the chain, you shouldn't need more force than usual :)

Oh and

You should check out simichrome. it polishes up aluminum quite nicely. I did it to mirror finish the seatpost/cranks/stem on my track bike

Thanks for the advice!
The european version of this stuff, i already have, and used :)
Unless there is something in simichrome that isn't in whatever we have here.

It's called commandant, and it is as well meant for polishing/rubbing/cleaning depending on the compound used.
Actually got a chrome finish on my last Odyssey forks with just that, a lot of sanding paper sheets, and some scotchbrite..

Same reason i now bought chrome odysseys lol, was soo much work.

The stem though, has some kind of coating before you get to the bare metal, that's why the initial tiny bit of polishing took so long. I now sanded most of the shit off so it's ready for another trip to my mate's workshop.
I'll upload a pic of finished project plus pics of the outlandish tools i created to do polish(edit: sand) the stem.

And again i say.. NEVER EVER AGAIN.
