I think a S&W 442 is in my future, or maybe a Ruger LCP.

I got new carry ammo on sunday and did a little informal test. Left to right, 180 gr. Federal FMJ, 180 gr. Winchester 'white box usa' JHP, and 180 gr. Winchester PDX1 Bonded JHP. All .40 S&W, the white box round was shot into jugs of water, the others into stacked phonebooks. The first phonebook shot with the PDX1's had enterance holes the size of FMJ's, and exit holes the size of quarters. All of them expanded into dry phonebooks. I shot several white box hollows into dry phonebooks and 99% of them got clogged with paper and did not expand at all.

Needless to say, I seriously doubt I will ever carry anything other than PDX1. I had high hopes for it after reading several articles about it passing the strict FBI protocols and them now carrying it and I was very impressed.

Oh it happens.  http://www2.nbc13.com/vtm/news/local/article/mother_kills_her_son_then_herself_at_shooting_range/66981/

I remember reading about that last year and it really doesn't make me want to go to a proper range. When I bought my gun last summer I just drove out to a wooded area miles from the nearest town to shoot, but I've since moved to the downtown area of a large city so it's not realistic now.

Its not about how old you are, its about nutjobs going by them selves, renting a gun and buying a box of rounds and emptying the magazines into others and/or them selves. Chances of you killing yourself (suicide) are much lower if you're with a friend/family member.

I have always wondered how indoor/outdoor ranges prevent crazy people from shooting innocent people.

They hand out shotguns willy nilly in the UK, the firearms enquiries officer is coming round tomorrow to make sure I'm enough of a farmer to have one, but i spoke to him on the phone and he was talking like I was already successful.  But we'll see.

hahaha.....wow.

I'm glad I'm a fucking american.

Used Rugers or smith and wessons in 9mm are pretty cheap and extremely nice.

Revolvers are the best kind of pistol for HD in my opinion.  No safeties and everyone can use one.  Right now you can find .357/.38spcl used revolvers under $300 no problem, and they are bad ass and original.

I wish I could find a used S&W .38 for under 300.

I'm looking into getting a pistol for home protection, not wanting a rifle or anything just a pistol. Whats a good one and farely inexpensive? I was looking at Walther P99's and like the look but don't like the $800 price tag. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If it's strictly for home defense, the chances of you actually using it are slim so why spend alot? I say look for a used Ruger P95. I've seen them near $300.

Open carried last night in public.

Sweet. I started carrying concealed a few months ago. I thought I'd feel weird about it, but I don't even notice it anymore.

You will love it.

I intend on getting a 26 next spring-ish.

Shitty.

Apparently it's pretty easy up here in WA from what I hear.

Very.

I applied, got fingerprinted, payed 50 something dollars, and 9 days later I had my permit.

Maybe this. Its also cheap, coming in at $325 and I like the sounds of it.

I own one of those. I've put 200 rounds through it so far, and carry it on a regular basis. The trigger pull is long and heavy, and the recoil from the .40 version is aggressive. I've fed it PMC, Remington, and Federal ammo and have only had 1 feeding problem, and that was my fault. They get a bad rep because when they were first introduced in 1994, apparently there were some issues with reliability but that was long ago and it has been fixed.

I love mine.
