I kind of want an M&P .45 now.

Good choice. I love my sw40ve and have heard nothing but good things about the M&P series. Smith and wesson really stands behind their products and has excellent customer service.

why would you need a gun while riding bmx? besides trying to be a badass?

The skatepark 2 blocks from my apartment is a large hangout for drug dealers, addicts, and gang members. There have been numerous shootings and armed robberies there. Hell, a friend of mine has been shot at twice while riding there and i've had people quite obviously try to set me up for a robbery there a few times, but since I pay attention to shit I was able to get the fuck out quick.

Thanks!
1" diameter 7068 round bar.

I'm going to make some more, but next time around I won't buy a host and use the internals. I'll be buying the LED's, drivers, clickys, batteries and reflector individually then machine the housings exactly how I want them.

The one above was a bit restricted by the internals. That one is three different pieces that thread together. Reflector drops in, rubber boot drops in next, spacer, led/driver threads in. That is all in the front piece. Then the clicky drops in the back, battery pack threads into that then the center tube threads around the battery pack and that whole assembly threads around the front assembly... I'll take some photos disassembled later tonight.

The next ones will be 1" diameter but the center will taper down since I will be using a single battery instead of three AAA's. It will also be shorter.

make one with a "self defense" bezel, low riding pocket clip, and minimum of 50 lumen output and put me on the list for a couple.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about Smith and Wesson's new SD9 and SD40, and the Bodyguard .380 and polymer .38. as well as Ruger's .357 LCR.

Anyone here own an Mosin Nagant (7.62x54mmR)?

You can buy them pretty dirt cheap, $100 or so. Looks like it would be fun to pick off targets from a good distance away.

ALSO: Looking for a decent carry weapon on a budget. I'm not sure what the general though on Cobra is when it comes to manufacturing, but i'm kind of interested in this:

Not the prettiest thing in the world to look at, but at $226 it'd keep me safe when walking those dark rail road tracks and alley ways.

Still got the Ruger pistol. Too big and not powerful enough to carry. Had a bit of a problem with it recently. Took it to the range where it began jamming pretty bad, so I quit shooting for the day and took her home to clean. I popped out the spring assembly in the back of the grip and was supposed to be able to pull down on that, removing the (not sure if its the right name) 'slide pin' or something, which would of allowed me to remove the slide. No go, simply stuck. So I put the spring assmebly back into the grip and was unable to pull the slide back more than a few CM.

Took it to a buddies, and we were able to get the slide to work again properly, and get the gun clean. However we still were not able to remove that pin no matter how fucking hard we tried. Just acquired a 550rd box of ammo so I got the itch to go plink around and shoot cans and stuff.

For an inexpensive carry gun, I'd take a serious look at the Ruger LCP. I've read reports that the first 2-300 round break in period is cruial, and it can be picky with ammo. I'm still considering one.

Is the prisoner of war / missing in action image in your sig for anyone you know or just for general consensus?

It's something I feel strongly about. I don't know any POW's myself, but I've known several people that either were or are currently in the military.

I see it like this; soldiers either come back from a war, get killed in action, or become POW/MIA. Coming back is the goal, but even KIA you have some sort of closure. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have family members just go missing. Not knowing what ever happened to them.

I'm just a proud American with the utmost respect for our military.

i am glad nothing happened to you. But i will say that to anyone who doesnt already own a shotgun for HD you are a fool. Buy a shotgun and load it with double 00 buckshot. i dont care if you have a dog or cat or some other bullshit excuse. the sound of a racking shotgun behind a locked door will makes some one shit themselves.

I've given this alot of thought, but am having a hard time doing it. Mainly because I figure I can defend my home with my 40 cal and since I have a ccw, it actually serves a purpose. A shotgun would just collect dust. I'm still open to the idea though.

Little update to my story. We were out this evening and I mentioned wanting to get a snub nose hammerless S&W .357 for a "bike riding" gun, and to have at home for her when I'm gone, and teaching her to shoot .38's through it. She got very excited, asked if we could go to the range right then, and also expressed interest in just sticking with .357's.
We get home, enter our building and see the old man that acts as a janitor. He came up and appologized profusely for knocking on our door last night. :mad2:   The landlord never called either.

My wife and I are both very relieved it was just him, but she still wants a gun.

I posted an incident a while back in this thread that was pretty chilling, much like what you went thru last night except the knocking turned into pounding, and the pounding lasted for a while. It was one of the main reasons I started buying guns, and started this thread. Glad nothing happened. Keep an eye out though.

There are cameras in the hallway, one of which is nearly directly above our door and our landlord is supposed to call today and inform us about what he saw after looking at the footage. I'm really hoping it was just some random guy, and not 4 armed and masked men.

I'm glad I own a gun to say the least, and it made me realize I need to get another for my woman and get her to the range.

Last night around 10:30pm somebody knocked loudly on my door, which is very unusual because my neighbors never bother me. I asked who it was and a man whos voice I didn't recognize said "I'm the janitor". Before I could say anything, my wife yells through the door, "what do you need?!". The dude did not respond. My wife then yells at me, "THAT ISN'T THE JANITOR! GET YOUR FUCKING GUN!". Within seconds you could heard footsteps going very quickly from our door down the hall, and the door opening out of the building.

After calling the landlord, we find out the old man that cleans up the building was out of town so it definately wasn't him.

My wife now insists If I ever answer the door, I do it with gun in hand.

lcr!

I've thought about that too, but it appears chunkier than the 442. I need a 2nd carry gun that needs to be as small as possible, and I'd prefer a revolver since I already carry a semi. S&W is coming out with a half polymer .38 that is supposed to be really small/light.

The only reason I mentioned the Lcp is because of it's size and weight, it would be perfect.
