get one of those .3* WSSMs. I want to buy my dad a .243 WSSM upper for shooting groundhogs and deer. The Super Silly Magnum rounds have similar ballistics to the parent rounds but fit in the AR15 magwell. Only works if you are a reloader, of course.

EDIT: While I was back home in Indiana, a friend's room mate showed me his Russian AK-47 that was pretty awesome looking. I've been kind of wanting a gun for awhile already, but then he made the interest larger.

Get an AR-15. Seriously the best thing. Buy one lower (the only part that is legally "a gun") and you can swap everything else out. You can get a complete upper, basically 90% of a gun shipped to you UPS, cause it's just parts. You can have as many uppers as you want in different calibers and such. It's such a versatile platform.

The numerical gauge describes the number of bore-sized lead balls it takes to make up a pound.

So it takes 20 in a 20 gauge to equal a pound, but only 12 in a 12 gauge.

I love bizarre units.

The baby eagle is actually the same thing as a Jericho 941, and isn't made by the Desert Eagle people at all. It's a very heavy and durable gun similar to a CZ-75 and it's what Spike Spiegel carries.

I just bought a .40 XDM and its a great gun.

Jealous. I used to have an XD45 and the new XDMs look even better. So sick. I have a 9mm M&P I bought before they had the XDMs, but now I wish I had waited and bought an XDM.

.40 and .45 would be too big for simple self defense
no, but if you are a wimp/woman/have small hands/don't practice a lot, a .45 might have a lot of recoil.

I'm pretty sure the guy doesn't wanna kill a guy
You generally don't shoot at people you don't want to kill.

.38 special. i'm sure some of the gun nuts on here will tell you to get something crazy but the 38 has good stopping power, is small, simple and the stainless requires less maintenance.

But for a first gun period, shotgun, handsdown. Mossberg 12ga or similar. You can get the kits that come with the slug barrel, which is shorter and therefore better for home defense (you can use it with buckshot no problem).

I'm not going anywhere. I don't come here much, but one day I'll get shoulder surgery and be back as much as I surf silverfishlongboarding now.

Hmm, I wonder how much lighter bikes are since I paid attention to BMX. Are we down to 20lbs and 24spoke wheels yet?
