Pedals don't need to be done that tight anyway. Just use some blue loctite on the threads and tighten it a reasonable amount with the 6mm allen. Should be good after that.

The Bike Shop / Wheel building question
« on: October 04, 2016, 01:07:42 PM »
If a wheel  is strongest when all the spokes have the same tension, how do you know what's the optimal tension and does it vary depending on wheel size or spoke gauge? I'm thinking about getting one of those Park Tool spoke tension measuring tools but I don't know if it'd even work with 20" wheels.

That's quite an improvement.

Someone needs to produce some high end tires instead of all these new colors that keep outdoing themselves in terms of how awful they look.

Wraps can be ok when done tastefully like on that white frame or on that Profile hub but fucking stop it with the damn tires.

I'm with big ben, what the fuck happened to Fit?

That blue WTP cruiser looks like it'd be fun to rip around on at the local woods but why the fuck would they give it a 1 inch threaded head tube?

Love the bike. That park looks familiar, where do you live?

Is there anything innovative this year or is it new colors and sizes?

Definitely experiment with saddle position. You want to be sitting on your actual sit bones, not on any soft tissue. Lowering and moving your seat backwards might help with hand discomfort as it moves your weight back slightly and takes a bit of pressure off your hands. Rising your bars too.
Give your body time get used to the new position.
Play with tire pressure too.

I'd bet dropping a few psi would give you more of an increase in contact area than increasing tire diameter.

One thing BMXers don't seem to understand about tires is that the whole point of larger volume tires is to be able run lower pressure. If you switch to bigger tires but keep running the same psi all you're doing is basically adding some weight.

« on: August 15, 2016, 02:58:00 PM »
Same happened to me with a set of Rubens and I took a bad spill that ended in an ER visit and a scar on my chin.New tires are usually covered in a waxy residue from the manufacturing process and until it wears off they can be a bit slippery. It'll wear off after a session or two or you can sand them down a little.

I like my Giro but really just go to a bike shop and try a few on. Get the one that feels more comfortable on your head.

A few good videos have come out this week: first the Make video, then Dig posted the Jeff Kocsis part on the new United video and now I've come across this gem https://youtu.be/Fv1p40DjORs

DVX footage fuck yeah! Sick video. They manage to capture the vibe of the places they visited and the riding was great. My kind of film.
