The Bike Shop / Re: Odyssey Clutch wobble
« on: June 20, 2016, 10:23:14 AM »
There shouldn't be a wobble. Make sure you have the bolts fully tight first. If your spokes are super super super tight, then you can try letting them back to a more reasonable tension. Otherwise try to narrow down where the problem is a little more.

By the way, does anybody know if TSC/Primo/Profile or alternative spring will work for Antigram without a modification in the bent area?

Nope, but the correct springs should be readily available as spares.

Add grease. The Clutch loves grease, dont be afraid.
Add it through the adjustment hole and it will eventually make it to where it needs to be, just keep working it in there.

If you need to take apart then try these:-
Disassembly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vg1SjjJz9nM
Reassembly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxnWbSjyexc

Should cover most things.

If something breaks contact warranty.

The Bike Shop / Re: Sunday
« on: April 06, 2016, 10:37:01 AM »
The BMX market has moved a lot towards complete bikes and we have had to put a lot of emphasis on that for Sunday. With any new part we have to decide if it will be Sunday or Odyssey or G-Sport. Sunday is where our high end frames are but otherwise it tends to be "conservative" budget parts. We have innovated (like with the beefier single wall rims) with Sunday where we need a lower price part that still works well enough to ride hard, but the more advanced parts will always be Odyssey or G-Sport. To be honest, I dont understand it that well myself, but as long as I get to work on new products I'm happy to see it with any name on it.

I'd be psyched if it's real, especially for the potential metal casting stuff, but it feels like a setup for a shitty old joke...

The metal casting really isnt a big deal, you can do that with pretty much any plastic 3d print.

Seen this?

I kind of struggle to see how a phone screen can fling out enough light to cure resin quickly and accurately enough, when our little sla machine uses some sort of death laser and still takes a while... Cool if it does work though.

I'm very sceptical. Any resin that is sensitive enough to harden reasonably quickly on the light from a phone will be a pain in the arse to keep out of daylight. Their video shows it in clear bottles in full daylight which seems mad unless you mix it up with some sort of catalyst just before use. I think the reality would have to be dark rooms etc.

SO WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON A LARGER CLAMPING ARE eg those guys from europe.

I think its a good way to go if we are going to have these ridiculously big bars, but going up just an 1/8" seems hardly worth the hassle.

Will the Sunday Seeley peg sleeves fit on Pleg 2 inserts?

Are the Seeley pegs the "4.5 inch plegs"  that were rumored a few months (years? I can't keep track of time) ago?

No and no.

Front brake cable? Odyssey Linear or just the cheap slic cable they offer?

Basic Odyssey Slic. The linear wont bend as tight.

The Bike Shop / Re: UK guys, could you help me value these parts?
« on: March 14, 2016, 09:55:59 AM »
They are "worth" what someone will pay. All parts are pretty old by the looks so probably not that much. Also condition will make a huge difference. If everything is like new then maybe OK, but hubs and rims for example will be virtually worthless if they are battered.

Stems are a pain.

With the high bars people run now it is asking a hell of a lot for any stem to clamp the bars properly without crushing the clamp area. If you use 7075 then the extra hardness (and its a lot) makes it harder for the knurling to bite in, so you need more pressure to get the same kind of grip... having said that, the extra strength means that a 7075 stem is less likely to slip IF you can get the tension just right so that it doesn't crush the bar and isn't too gentle so the bars slip and chew it out before you get that far. I think that 6061 is a "safer" bet for most riders and will get the necessary grip more easily without the rider going too far and crushing the bars.

Tree may do their collet stem in 7075 (if they still make it?)

I had a pair of very old un broken Twombolts. They didnt stay on my bike super long because of that stupid built in adapter. I understand the why behind it, but holy shit did it ever fuck with my crank/chain alignment. My left crankarm was twice as far from the CS as the right. Also, ankle bite. I couldnt ride for a while because I kept goring my shit on those things.

Weird. Especially about the ankle bite, Wom/Twom/Thunderbolts all have amazing ankle clearance compared to other cranks, it was a major design consideration.

The Lounge / Re: EU Referendum
« on: February 23, 2016, 06:13:23 AM »
Nobody knows. There's no plan. I can't see any way the EU would accept us leaving, drop the free movement of people and still be a trading partner. Most of the 'out' campaign are rabid xenophobes who blame immigration for society's ills and talk about the free movement of people as being one of the country's major problems. However, they won't be in charge in the case of the UK leaving the EU and there is no concrete plan of how we would realistically operate in the event of an exit. There's also nearly as many UK citizens living in other EU countries as there are other EU citizens working in the UK and nobody's even mentioned whether they'd all have to come back either.

NHS would pretty much collapse if we chucked out all the EU nurses, especially in London hospitals.
