The Bike Shop / Re: Standard
« on: April 04, 2015, 08:59:00 AM »
I feel like it's a very slow moving trend right now but hopefully it keeps going. Remember when they came out with the Bullitt frame? It was drastic and got a lot of attention. I think Standard needs another frame like that to get some more people interested. Like maybe a 12.8cs, 76ha and 11.00bb or something. Just something wild. Because even though it's american made and have higher than average quality tubes and everything else, I think them being generally the same for years and years makes them easy to over look with you have all these other brands with new frames every year and rainbow/splatter/neon paint options.

The Bike Shop / Re: Kink Lynx Bars - Experience?
« on: March 24, 2015, 11:17:09 AM »
This was 2-3 years ago but I've seen first hand 3 different people snap the bars and how much they flex just from pushing down on them. They might have gotten better but I'd stay away from them.

Thanks for the advice, I'll stay away!

The Bike Shop / Kink Lynx Bars - Experience?
« on: March 19, 2015, 07:16:19 AM »
They are for sale on Dans right now for $18, so it seems like a no brainer, but they are a good bit lighter than most bars. I wanted to see if anyone here had used them, and if they held up, or if the light weightiness caused an early failure.

Thanks!

He handles some of the ads, and has a greater say in the day to day operations.

right on. Still get not he bmx from time to time, or has that come to an end (whether it be for age or work related reasons)? I wish you had resurfaced sooner, I took a big trip last year and past by St,Louis, where I think you lived (at least at some point). Would have been cool to meet you since BG certainly had a huge effect on my whole life ultimately... from that awful race report I did that you posted, which got me on a race team, out to inter bike and many other opportunities.

It's good to see you are still around... I thought you handed over the site to Kurt @ BMX Union a while back though?

Just bringing this back to leave my review after riding them a few times, although the temperature has only been up to the low 80s. They gripped excellent and I'm very happy they do not make a peep, but I only run them at 65psi front and 75pso rear.

Thanks! thats roughly the same pressure i have usually.

Not bad for a 13 inch backend and 4 pegs I think. Half cab table http://instagram.com/p/e7l6eKjCZ5/?modal=true

And a forwards table that's a bit better: http://instagram.com/p/cHUuf6DCdm/?modal=true

The Bike Shop / Re: sunday stem slippage
« on: February 08, 2015, 07:18:58 AM »
use sandpaper to rough up the clamping area of the bars and stem. My Sunday stem started slipping more and more as time went on until I ditched it, but it wasn't every hope or right away, so hopefully a little sandpaper gets the job done for you.

lots of people here have them, in the heat theres been a few complaints that coloured tyres arent so grippy, but if youre not riding in 40+ degrees celcius it should be ok. the blue ones look cool, not too bright

Good to know, since I live in Florida I ride in up to about 32C. Might be an issue.

Just saw this thread now. Happy to see that everyone was as into watching it as I was into shooting it. It was a real honor to film with a legend like that.

I'll add that after the first ride they don't squeak.

That's a good thing to me. Cool!
