the backlash and hate towards trans people at the moment over who can use what bathrooms is fuckin horrible. no time ever has a paedophile used trans friendly bathroom laws to abuse kids. its not a thing that happens (well there is a possibility that it might occur in isolatated cases in the near future, but only as a result of stupid transphobic people going on about it a shitload and putting it into the heads of sick bastards in the first place).
in most cases its gonna cause issues when people get confused seeing a man who is forced to use the womens bathroom because he was born with female genetalia (or vice versa), and then end up further interrogating and harassing the poor person making them explain that they are trans gender and not in fact a sexual predator as idiots have led each other to believe. like trans people havent got enough shit to deal with already ffs.

sorry that was a tangent but i get sick of seeing this kind of stupid shit on the internet. "oh why cant we just keep things simple with 2 genders" who fuckin cares how other people want to identify themselves? it doesnt affect you, let them get on with it, grow up. seems like as the general populous finally starts to come to terms with the fact that its ok for people to be gay, they have to find somewhere else to direct their hate towards alongside the old classics: "people from other religions", and "people who dont look like me".

fuck people [/rant]

yeah pretty much

i drew a paint diagram to show it just cos paint

instead of screwing into the spindle itself, the end bolt (blue) screws into the wedge shaped bit (pink). the inside of teh axle is hollow, and tapers in slightly towards the end where the bolt lives. cos of the slots, when you tighten the end bolt the wedge is pulled towards it which splays the ends of the spindle out slightly ensuring a tighter fit on the arm, eliminating any wobble.

im sure i read back when they first promoed the design on like the merged or somewhere that the whole point of this was so the arm could slide on and off easily when the wedge was loose but would stay tight when done up.

found the article

These are a 2pc 22mm crank using our new ESS (Expanding Spline System) making them incredibly strong, yet super easy to install and remove. No more taking a hammer to your cranks ever again.

if the tolerances are small enough for the arm to be a really tight fit in the first place, then the wedge is pointless anyway, and just puts additional stress on the inside of the spindle. additionally, over time i reckon the constant pressure being applied to the inside of the axle would cause it to deform slightly so that it wouldnt "spring" back as easily so youd still probs need to give it a bit of clout. who knows cos it seems the cranks didnt last long enough to put that to the test

everyone who says 48s are shit are always smooth flowy style riders.

honestly if your a sketch cunt who does loads of grinds/drops/sketchy ass spins and/or isnt very good at maintaining a bike, 48s do make a difference. i see people go through so many wheels and break spokes weekly who would deffos benefit from 48 spoke wheels

i remember buying one not long after i started, spent 3 hours hacksawing it down to size and then it ran like shit on the gt cd sprocket on my performer (suprise suprise) so i swapped it for some other part which i forget what it was with a mate.

44-16 rhd was lame though, i broke my chain so much when i started riding, can see why motorbike chains were a thing before lhd gained more traction. its so much better these days with smaller gearing and shit like drive side hub guards

58
yeah but the whole point of the design was to make it easier to get the arms off as soon as the spindle bolt is loosened

59
yeah its a silly design, doesnt even make removing the cranks any easier either, still had to belt them with a mallet to get em off

60
for anyone who bought these cranks, email eclat or your local distro and they should send you a replacement non slotted axle
