Hahaha because no one ever broke any thing gsport or odyssey. Bike parts break. Get off yer high horse Georgie. I don't think I could name one of my friends that had wombolts or twombolts that didn't  break them.

You're missing the point completely but enjoy being a bitter jerkoff. When you figure out whether or not you can name one of your friends that didn't break Odyssey cranks then come on back and I'll Snapchat a pic of my cock to you.

What point am I missing? The fact that it took George 3 generations of cranks to finally make a set that didn't snap left and right? So what if the wemakethings guys designed one pair of shitty cranks? You think it's the first time a company has fucked something up trying to be innovating? For someone who has designed cranks that have had plenty of there own issues to point this out is funny.

its extremely hard to gauge how good a pair of cranks are based on people's reports on the internet

1. say you sold 10,000 pairs of cranks "A", 50 pairs are faulty. you may see 40 of those with faulty cranks "A" talk about them on the internet, and come to the conclusion that these cranks "A" aren't that good.
2. now you're comparing these cranks "A" to another product by another company, cranks "B". you only see 20 bad reviews about them, so they can't be as bad as cranks "A" right?

what we don't know is the total number of cranks "B" (or cranks "A") sold. Cranks "B" could have just sold 800 pairs, giving it a faulty product ratio of 20/800 = 2.5%, whilst cranks "A" actually had a ratio of 50/10,000 = 0.5%. These numbers are of course made up, but it demonstrates the issue with silent evidence. you only hear about bad reviews most of the time, but very little people take into consideration how many faulty products there are compared to how many were sold.

secondly, people very seldom rave mad about how good a product like cranks are. it's like I.T. and electricity - you don't even think about it when it works perfectly without flaws, you just use it. nobody (well, not many) goes on the internet to tell eveyone that a product WORKS JUST AS IT IS EXPECTED!!!!1111!!ELEVENONEONE!

thirdly, we often dont' put enough emphasis on warranty service when we choose a new product - but if you look at the track record (not just the advertised) of customer services/warranty, some companies are well loved because they often go beyond what's stipulated in their terms and conditions about warrantying stuff.

now i'm not trying to argue with you at all - blindly arguing in favour of odyssey with my points above would just make me an ody fanboy, since i don't have their sales figures vs other companies either; so who knows what kind of faulty product ratio each company has? all i'm trying to point out is that we're quite likely to think we're more "in the know" about how well a product performs than we actually are.

what i do know, however, is that ody's been one of the companies that REALLY take care of their warranty and replace their products. If i was to buy new products with some non conventional design that haven't proven themselves in the bmx mass market, i'm more inclined towards buying their stuff, if i know that they'll take care of me should the product turns out crappy.

if WTP have similar attitudes / track record towards warranty etc, i'd also be happy to buy from them.

Don't worry, I know all this and I probably should tell them but I'm too busy dying from a dire case of schadenfreude.

apologies if i come across as patronising, been on this board for so long it always felt like we're all a bunch of teenagers.

get a hose or whatever and give it a rinse. Rain water is slightly acidic and is quite bad for metal, tho nowhere near as bad as road salt.

you don't need a powerwash, just a good hosing will help quite a lot.

Just found out my sister+brother-in-law are up to their eyeballs in mortgage repayments and credit card debt.

if you feel generous enough to give them a piece of advice, credit card debt is the worst debt that one can have, since they charge an effective interest rate of 20-60% APR, whereas a mortgage can be from 2%-7% APR. What they want to do, is to ask the bank if the mortgage can be extended at all, and reborrow however much is needed to pay off teh credit card debt IMMEDIATELY.

sell a liver, rob a blind 5 year old autistic grandmother or whatever, steal cigarettes instead of smoking, whatever. pay off the credit card debt IMMEDIATELY.

Aye mortgages are a shiter in that way. I put an extra £100 a month on top of mine, worked out decent as after 5 years of owning when me and the ex-Mrs sold it I had an extra 6k put into it.

Approx bronze age. Bg dad chat: came to renew my mortgage yesterday, turns out I'd paid £41,000 over the first 5 yr period, 37k of that was interest. 'Oh bother' I said.

i'm not 100% on retail residential mortgages in the UK, but after your initial two years fixed terms, you have no more penalty to shop around. This means a basic move called re-financing is possible - basically you find a bank that offers lower interest rate, you shift your mortgage over to them, the new bank pays off the amount you owe the original bank immediately in a lump sum, then you owe the same amount OF PRINCIIPAL to the new bank. and since they use a lower interest rate, you end up paying less as interests.

you can therefore decide to pay the same amount each month and pay off the house sooner, or stay with the same payment period and pay less each month.

you can basically just go into each bank and ask to talk a a mortgage advisor, and tell them you're ready to refiance your house, and you'll be shopping around all the banks for the best rates, then ask them what they can offer. shop around and let the banks offer you rates.

I've done this before.  They were my files but I guess technically company owned.  Oh well fuck em

anything you created whilst operating as a functioning employee belongs to the company. to copy those files for your personal use already qualifies as theft.

there is room, however, to recreate certain things from your memory in your own time, in your own home.

e.g. say your company has a massively complex set of data that requires a certain way to organize/make sense of. you, as a data analyst, spends 4 weeks creating and refining a computer program tailored to organising this sea of data.

the computer program, whilst created by you, belongs to the company. copying this program to take home with you is illegal.

on the weekend, however, if you recreate this program at home to help you organise your own finances, tax and groceries etc, is completely kosher.

if you suddenly gets made redundant etc, and a rival company employs you, you are free to recreate such a program for the benefits of the new company*.

*subject to certain restrictions, e.g.
non-compete agreements, patents, NDA's etc

I always ride 1 or 2 degrees of chicago. That Chicago in the pic is just silly.

it's probably just "silly" because of how odd it looks relative to the toptube (ane the bike frame). bear in mind that modern frames are a lot more slanted that they were years ago.

but you notice that against the background, it's directly vertical, which makes it only a tiny bit more forward then most riders. i just took my bike to check the bars, which are almost vertical. i've always wanted it a tiny bit more forward for flatland-style stuff but it's at the perfect angle for street/ramps, bearing in mind that i run 18mm offset forks.

if you look at bikes from the Etnies Forward era or even a bit later, most bars are quite vertical. back then, backends were longer and TTs were shorter in comparison, and a rider'd look really cramped on a bike if the bars are pulled back past the fork angle

sandwich style body, tapered axle at the weakest point with the plastic body acting as the bushing... imitation is the highest form of flattery but i'd still be a little nonplus to see things like this.

come to think about it, i think they're currently sponsoring a couple of top flatlanders, Vicki Gomez and Jesse Puente. you'd be shitting me to tell me they came up with that design from scratch...
