I specifically recall seeing this bike at rays. Too bad I didn't know it was you.

So many people there.  It was by far the busiest I'd ever seen at Ray's.  But even though there was a shit ton of people I really didn't feel like any place was too crowded to ride any place I went throughout the day.  What were you riding?  Bike and/or section.  There were some dudes in the old man high jump contest who were some shredders.  And I met a dude from BMXMuseum.

I really like your builds but this one is "off" maybe its the sprocket

It is pretty old and the lighting in this picture makes it look more purple than black.  But I feel you.  In person it doesn't look as different hues of black as the pictures make it out to be.  But the badassery of the sprocket makes up for any discoloration, IMO.  That, and it was the only 39t I had so it won by default.

i like this, its very cool. pretty different from how you normally have your bikes setup, though i imagine youve still got a few built atm. hows the sprocket clearence on the frame vs chainline?

Thanks!  And, actually..... This is the only 20" I have built up at the moment.  Hoping to get a "full freestyle" rig built back up again really soon.  I just need to figure out what I want to do on hubs and then build it.  I need to find a freecoaster hub that uses bigger drivers (11t).

Sprocket clearance is no problem at all.  Didn't have to do anything special.  If I remember, I'll try to take a picture sometime.

My current roasting rig:

CCR frame. 21.5" top tube, 14.5" rear end.  It ramps like a god damn beast master.  Maiden voyage was at Ray's CLE last weekend.  There was A SHIT TON of people there.  Pretty good times.  My buddy snapped a few pictures of me at the end of the night.

Color scheme is a shout out to Marquez's black Repsol

You crazy girl, you crazy.  That rear end on that bike is currently sitting at 14.625".  And my axle is fairly centered.  No way it can be 13.5" with a wishbone that big coming out of the BB.

TERREEEE!!!!   Hell yeah.

The industry standard tests biggest problem is that they dont mount the fork in a headset, they clamp the steerer directly. This is absolutely ridiculous and makes the test almost completely worthless. Since we started testing this way several MTB companies have followed suit and now test using a proper headset mounting.
(...)

I would say there is one factor that is about 100x times more ridiculous than 'unreal industry standards'

It is.... to allow outsourcing R&D guys, engineers, agents, official EN testing center engineers - seting up your babies, your products, allowing them to install products into jigs before starting the test. Most of them never rode a bike. If they rode a bike, they never jumped. If they jumped, than maybe the curb, they never rode real BMX.

Of course you can prepare detailed guides about setting up position, angle, tightening torque for your tested products, sketches, drawings, video-guides, anything you want. But there are 10x more setups and cases possible with testing machine elements / jigs than with your products itself. Comparing bars of different width would you setup up them with same width or same distance from the bar ends? Both could be ok depends what you plan to compare/test.

Then easier one, but not always - setting up the machine program itself. I saw so many screw-ups.

I saw so many RIDICULOUS testing done. E.g. comparison fatigue test of saddle+seatpost set of two brands. But the setup, jigs used, and especially the way they bolted saddle + post togeother was so ridiculous, screwed up, upside down. You could immediatelly notice that certified testing center personal never rode ANY bike. They were under influence of HEAVY DRUGS, Im sure.

I think that if you are not there (in Taiwan or somewhere) playing with your babies and competiton products - the test does not count! Only testing done 'inhouse' make sens in long-term.

G: any comments on the different frequence ;) ?

The dude that sets everything up for the Odyssey Stampy tests is a BMXer.  He isn't a jumper, I guess you could say.  But more of a modern day street dude.  And even though it doesn't make a lick of difference, he shreds hard.  He works for Odyssey/Full Factory family.  So you could sort of say the testing IS done in house.  And he 110% knows his way around a BMX bike and how to properly put it together.  Not too many BMX brands can say this about having an employee in Taiwan 365 days a year.

Also, he doesn't do drugs.  I offered him some of mine and he declined with a smile.  Does smoke hella cigs though.

Got back into it last year after a 14 year break. I had forgotten just how fun it was.

Going to get a little more serious for 2015. My sprints and cardio need some work lol.

I'm trying to get to a few races in the area this spring/summer.  What class do you ride?  Would we race each other?  I'll be 33 by then.

28-35 Novice (lol). There usually wasn't a large group at the Des Moines track so there was usually some younger peeps mixed in. The other dudes from town race cruiser class, but I prefer the 20s.
I only purchased a temp membership last fall, but will be picking up a full USA BMX membership for 2015.

I want to check out the Cedar Rapids track, I have heard good things and hopefully it is bigger than the Des Moines track.

This would for sure be my class.  I raced one time when I was 16 or so.  Wasn't that good of a first experience so I never really pursued.  Moline is only about an hour drive from me, so I plan on hitting that track up a bunch.

I also want to race my Model C, even though I know it isn't some fancy cruiser.  I just think it would be fun.

I thought some new indoor park just opened up in that neck of the woods?

Touché, sir.  I have a pair of the Degroots chilling on the parts shelf.  They are also big fatties.

Be careful with the Tree ones.  They only make them for certain 22mm cranks.  Something about not all 22mm spindles are the same size.

I also doubt there will be much options in a 30+ tooth size in the 22mm splined.  Bigger gears are for sure on a come back, but I think they are still racing the 22mm spline drive on popularity/regularity.  Hopefully soon though as I am sort of leaning to your same preferences on bigger sprockets in 22mm spline.

They will for sure be shorter than current grip offerings.  Those grips were from the days of 26" wide bars being the norm.

Are the Nate grips the one with the "trucker mudflap chick" on them?  Or were those Chad Degroots?
